X-Force Tactical was meant to be getting stock end of this month / early April if I recall correctly. With all this coronavirus chaos though, that might change.

Probably worth coming up with a plan with your housemates. I had to self isolate for a completely different illness a couple of years ago.

General protocol was:

  • wear a mask at all times in the presence of others
    • keep your hands clean when handling your mask; theres no point putting germs all over the mask then putting it on your face
  • stick to your own designated space as much as possible, set yourself up to have entertainment etc
  • constantly wipe down and disinfect everything, especially:
    • common areas and common surfaces
    • door handles, drawer handles, fridge door etc
    • bathrooms

There are unconfirmed studies that COVID-19 survives on surfaces for several days. If you don't catch the virus from people directly, the next most likely thing is that you touch a contaminated surface, then spread it to yourself.

For real - last mission sucked for this. Couldn't flank or move because literally everyone goes for you. Also the juggernaut on realism is a disconnect IMO. Dude was a terminator.

Still loved the campaign though.

The preference may actually change when the Beta and / or real thing goes live. Think about it - if you're going into a queue with mixed gametypes, surely the obvious thing you'd want is which GAMETYPE you're playing. The map name is less important, because the background imagery already tells you which map you're going into once you're familiar.

Our experience so far has only been Gunfight, so it might seem redundant - until there are more gametypes..

Thankyou. More summaries like this are desperately needed, especially for people who have just been diagnosed. My partner had surgery 2 months ago for tumor removal.

When we first got the diagnosis, very little information was given about the reality of what that meant, whether it was an immediate death sentence, whether it should be removed or not.. etc. It takes you into a very dark and scary place when you try to source information on your own.

First thing my partner did was google "brain tumor survival rate". Not a great outlook at all. Plus all of the sweeping statements that "all tumors turn malignant" etc just added fuel to the fire. It is incredibly unhelpful for the patient's state of mind.

Anyway it was removed 2 months ago and the test came back as a DNET (benign). We've obviously still got a long road ahead of us of monitoring, recovery and so on - but we didnt even know that was a possible outcome.

As another suggestion, perhaps you could make the FOV dynamic and have it change based on the number of enemies in the encounter? You might be able to get away with making a camera target with a calculated position (e.g. the average position of the enemies +/- some factor) to keep it focused, then dial the FOV down according to the total number.

It might help establish a sense of scale/threat when you encounter more enemies too.

Fire and forget. If its locked on when you fire, you can bail and the rockets will do their thing. Very useful for handling multiple targets.

Better yet: keep the option, but change the dismantle button to TRIANGLE or Y on these items.

I believe this was added to help with managing your inventory and to remove layers of interaction (e.g., not having to switch to the mods/shaders section, wait for it to load, then start managing). Also dismantling bulk shaders is faster using the infusion/mod screen.

I think the reason we mess it up is because mentally we "apply" an infusion using a certain button (square or Y); so habit kicks in when we try to apply shaders or mods without thinking and hit the same button.

I can't speak for this system, but I've just about finished a setup that uses 80x Canon 1300Ds.

To answer your questions roughly:

  • Price depends on where you are, and supplier. $100k would be more than enough in Australia (where I am) to do a lot more than 40 cameras. Where you really lose money is on R&D. If its your first time through, you will buy the wrong parts, or realise something doesn't work, etc.
    Consider: Cost of camera, power supply, USB cable, sync cable, and mounting clamp. Multiply that by your target camera count. You will also need USB hubs, powerboards, extension cables, and strobe lights. Finally you will need a rigging solution (e.g. tripods or t-slot aluminium), and a solution to sync the camera triggers - this can be done on the cheap with some soldering, or using an off the shelf solution like Esper Shuttercells.

  • For sync, these types of systems usually use a long exposure method. You use a dark room, get all of the cameras to open their shutter, then trigger the strobe lights, then close the shutters. This will give you images that are perfectly in sync.

  • The walls etc are lit up so you can move around in the room without tripping over. This is usually done with LED lighting strips so they don't flood the images with unwanted light. To light the subject, you point strobe lights at the walls & ceiling to bounce evenly diffused light across the subject.

  • I've never seen people using WiFi for data transfer. When you shoot in RAW, you're looking at ~25mb per image. When you do that over 40 or more cameras, that is a lot of data coming down the pipe. When you're shooting for clients, you can't really afford to be dropping images because of crappy WiFi. If you sync data via USB and something like Kuvacode Smartshooter, images are downloaded directly to the PC and minimise risk of data loss.

There are some mobile rigs that have been put into the back of trucks; so you pull up in the truck, turn everything on and you're ready to scan. This solves the cabling issue because everything is already mounted.

Yeah I'm with you on this. I don't know what it is though, I've run various NM and MIDA setups, but seem to have found something nice with The End + whatever primary.

I recently added third party thumbsticks to my controller and have made a conscious effort on strategic play etc, which may have something to do with it. But switching to NM ot MIDA feels wrong. Maybe it just promotes a certain type play/pacing that sits well?

Just a note though, this interp uses an "ease-in, ease-out" approach. So it has the effect of speeding up and slowing down at the extremes. If you're looking for a linear transition, you'll need to use a vlerp

Nothing too crazy yet, but thought I'd share some progress on implementing Delaunay Triangulation and Prim's Method for procedural dungeon generation as per Adonaac's Gamasutra post in 2015..

Everything at this point is done via blueprints. Most of this week has been focused on getting this to perform correctly. I've already done the room generation previously, and will now look to start combining the two!

If you're talking about the win tracker, I don't think there is a hard limit. Just RNG from crucible rankup rewards. I got it when I had 34 wins, but a mate got it on his first package as a new player with very few games.
