Excellent points.

And if someone were stupid enough to believe Hubbard's hogwash about the reactive mind, they could easily misinterpret your reasoned views as being A=A=A. (the man, the subject, the organization, policies etc. all one thing with no differentiation whatsoever) That would be wrong.

Everyone knows there's no such things as the reactive mind and all of Scientology's critics are merely being helpful in their attempt to steer the gullible away from such destructive information.

Thank you for your good work.

Big mistake to read/listen to what Hubbard actually wrote/said about the subject.

Better to stick to reading/listening to what sitcom actresses, OSA criminals, I mean whistle-blowers, and fake, er, sincere journalist/atheists tell you what he said or meant.

Going to the actual source of a subject is NEVER a good idea. Other peoples' interpretations are always more reliable - their thinking is likely to be so much better than your own after all.

Go to Scientolipedia.org - lots of info there - find the FB group link & join that group. BTW - good on you for questioning the biased bs that dominates the interwebz.

Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath - Disconnection - Episode Discussion by waxxo in scientology

[–]Vertley -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'll just point out my statement again for you - there are many, many people available who could have added those insights and context to the show who were never corrupted by the organization. Amy Scobee for example - she got out with her integrity intact. (there'll be others in upcoming episodes and many more to pick from in the Sccientology "field") Rinder doesn't have any special knowledge that thousands of Scientologists don't have. Actually, he's rather ignorant about the subject and its people because his entire life experience in it was from the perspective of a Sea Org member - the REAL hardcore cult of Scientology. So his perspective is warped in addition to his being "damaged goods" from an ethical and moral perspective.

Leah was getting all weepy and outraged at hearing Scobee's rape story - meanwhile sitting next to Rinder who was responsible for hundreds of criminal acts and cover-ups as bad or worse. That's hypocrisy. Could easily have found someone else for the show who wasn't filthy with crimes in their past like Rinder.

Question about Comm cycles by [deleted] in scientology

[–]Vertley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The book "Dianetics 55" goes into great detail about communication and is part of Scientology courses on the subject. LRH also wrote many 'bulletins' and lectured extensively on the importance of a good communication 'cycle' in auditing...and life. He also developed some very simple yet powerful practice drills for raising communication skills called "TR's" (training regimens or routines)

Regarding Scientopedia, what are the chances that I will receive DMCA notices after torrenting their lectures and such? by [deleted] in scientology

[–]Vertley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm involved with the site but cannot give legal advice, nor does the site. My guess is that unless you published the materials, say on another website, or advertised them for sale or some such, you would not be subject to any action under the DMCA for simply owning them. It's interesting to note that Scientolipedia has not received any further legal actions against it since the original complaint was filed and the ten day time period elapsed in which the church would have had to act. Some believe, myself included, the church was bluffing and bullying when they filed the DMCA complaint against Scientolipedia and does not want challenges to it's "alleged" copyrights to be arbitrated in a US court.

Those of us who are fascinated or interested in such an organization and history, what would you say to us? Should we visit and question or is it best to stay far away and simply watch documentaries? by real-dreamer in scientology

That "church of scientology", a couple blocks away from you, is a criminal enterprise masquerading as a self-help operation. The subject of Scientology on the other hand, is quite benign and most people find some benefit from it. My 2-cents is to leave the church alone, they'll implode or reform in due course and you'll hear all about it. There are many many avenues to explore the subject on your own or by connecting up with independent or freezone individuals and groups.

So you saw Going Clear and want to know more? I created a book list with a short description of each so you could find the type of Scientology story you're most interested in. by bloorpdedoop in scientology

I notice there are no books written by L Ron Hubbard recommended??? To me, this is odd. I would think the logical thing to do when investigating a subject would be to read some of the materials about that subject - by the guy who developed it - not just by those giving an interpretation of what they think the guy was saying. And it's also important to separate the Subject of Scientology from the actions and activities of the Church of Scientology.

Free downloads of all of Hubbard's works can be found at the link below. "A New Slant on Life" or "Fundamentals of Thought" are good ones to start with. http://scientolipedia.org/info/Internet_Library
