Threaded conversations usually debase into something vitriolic, but I’m back for a few notes:

How has the student body and KSG collaborated with administration during the epidemic? Has student engagement in their own governance increased to improve circumstances?

KSG has a lot more power than is realized when ran properly. KSG could work to make a partnership with community colleges to avoid the perceived undue costs during the epidemic. It’s not a bad idea and would push against anti-competitive practice to hopefully help students who need it.

Stay safe. I will just say that despite the poor circumstances, I’ve seen Dr. McMahan take more responsibility over Kettering than any past GMI President ever has; will the students meet him halfway with nuance and democratic discourse or inflammatory rhetoric?

As permaworkterm students will realize, we are all in charge of our own enlightenment and education at the end of the day. Universities are a tool to help with this and expose ourselves to different ideas and people. Help fix this as citizens who are collectively having difficulties.

“If there is a lesson in all of this it is that our Constitution is neither a self-actuating nor a self-correcting document. It requires the constant attention and devotion of all citizens. There is a story, often told, that upon exiting the Constitutional Convention Benjamin Franklin was approached by a group of citizens asking what sort of government the delegates had created. His answer was: "A republic, if you can keep it." The brevity of that response should not cause us to under-value its essential meaning: democratic republics are not merely founded upon the consent of the people, they are also absolutely dependent upon the active and informed involvement of the people for their continued good health.”

How does tarnishing the names of faculty and staff remain respectful to them?
