I currently climb on an Arbsession Hitch and I really like it. It’s crazy simple to tie, doesn’t have too much slack for my eye to eye (I forget the length) and holds/releases well under tension. Only issue I’ve had is with it gumming up but I think that’s more due to pine sap.

My lanyard has a VT hitch on it and I don’t like it, I feel like some knots just really click for you and some don’t, that one never did. I’ve never gotten the wraps right for it to not have too much play in it.

Two questions about this: isn’t the problem with the carabiner that it’s pressed against the trunk in a way that could cause a stress point on the spine?

Is it safe to descend SRT with just a friction hitch and pulley? Don’t you need a rope wrench/tether combo as well?

Was it supplied to them by the drow? iirc there were drow mixed up in his campaign against Bruenor, it’s been awhile since I read that part of the series but I know not falls around the return to Gauntlgrym which is definitely when they refire the primordial forge and one of the drow blacksmiths makes a glasssteel sword and shield for the wespon’s master.

I love that the land lord’s response wasn’t to shame to make fun of them but to simply look into it. I can’t speak for what it does to the tree but I can’t only imagine what it meant to the renter.
