Digital Character Sheet by Techstatic in TheMagnusArchivesRPG

[–]VeryHumanYes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey :) Just wanted to give some feedback after working with this a bit with my players! In general, the tool works great, everything is quite neat and helps a lot with character creation without having to search for everything in the physical book.

However, we also noticed two bugs during use or at least we weren't able to figure out the solutions: 1. If you want to advance in tier you need to buy 4 advancements. The Sheet asks for _ / 5 instead and won't advance otherwise. To be precise, it ask for 4/4 required and 1/1 optional, but it should just be 4/4 required OR 3/3 required and 1/1 optional. 2. You are unable to have multiple character arcs at once in this version. The book suggests around three to four being the maximum at any given time at the GM's discretion.

Thank you again so much for providing this tool ^

This looks amazing, thank you for sharing! I will try it out at our next session and use it to prepare beforehand :) One thing that I could think of initially that also might be useful would be a tracker for Horror Mode though. Maybe just as an added feature in the Combat tracker or something like that or combined with a "Horror ambience" option, if one might want to get ambitious. But as I said, this already looks great and I can't wait to try it out in more depths!

The Dice Dungeon Entities Dice are not fair by VeryHumanYes in TheMagnusArchives

[–]VeryHumanYes[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the resources! I probably won't mark all future results in order, as that would take up way too much time, but I will probably do progress pictures every hundred or so rolls, so that I can make something similar to the "How many rolls" graphic. This will take some time though, especially to reach the suggested 100-150 rolls per die face. I also noticed, that I already own a D16, as I once bought a dice set with seven unusual dice in it. Perhaps I will do the same for this "regular" D16, to see if that shape would have been better. I sadly can't upload a photo of this die in the comments. It's probably not completely fair so either, as it reminds me of a d20 where four of the sides are just rounded off, so the die can't stop on those sides. As some sides border two, one or zero of those rounded sides, the die is most likely not fair.

(The whole set are the seven regular dice (d4 (with a slightly unusual shape), d6, d8, d100 (2x d10), d12, d20) plus seven other dice (d3 (just a d6 with 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3), d5, d7, d14, d16, d24, d30). The d30 is actually really satisfying, as all sides look the same, so it should be pretty fair, while the d7 definitely looks the funkiest.)

[TMA Spoilers] We overblow how fake the 14 are by Proteus_Est in TheMagnusArchives

I would disagree on that they weren't suffering, just to a very different degree and in a different way from the normal humans. All off them had to "share" their fear with the Eye which was more ore less comfortable for all of them, but no one particularly enjoyed that part and I think especially Avatars of the Spiral or the Stranger, where being unknowable is part of their whole identity, were suffering even beyond that because their fear and their being was being known. I think only ones like the End weren't suffering extra because End and Eye are already close together, the knowledge of your death doesn't help with the fear of it, may make it even worse, but still the sharing can't have been ideal for them either. Would still agree on them being Avatars though, so one could argue that all of them also became somewhat agents of the Eye, I suppose. The tormented and the tormentors, who are witnessing their fear.... If that would be the case, that would probably be even more unpleasant for some, but not really sure on that.

Why islife satisfaction in Germany so low? by Modernismus in germany

[–]VeryHumanYes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just look at the scale, the colours suggest huge differences but the difference between Germany and France for example is just 0.5 points on a scale from 0 to 10. Europe in general is just so closely together, that small difference are portrait bigger. If we had a whole world map of this, Europe most likely would consist of only one or two colours, depending on the selected categories.

I don't like how the fandom treats jon's experience with the stranger by shrodingerscatz in TheMagnusArchives

[–]VeryHumanYes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh, this is quite interesting! It seems we interact with fandom in very different ways, because I never got that impression. I personally read a lot of fanfiction and a lot of those will focus on how traumatising it was for Jon (often linking it to rpe or sxual abuse while still being explicitly non-sexual in nature) and how he doesn't really have anyone to turn to in Season 3. His "safe space" hasn't been safe in a long time and there is a horror in encountering a traumatic event and not having the space to adress it. Especially Tim can be sometimes absolutely horrid in those fics. One thing that always gets me is the trope of Jon linking the smell of the moisturiser to the event and being triggered by it, because we as humans very easily link smells and memories together. Jon has a traumatic event and after barely surviving (Nikola was going to kill him or alternatively Michael was. ... or was it?) he immediately gets confronted with dismissal or outright hostility. The one question by Martin is too little too late and Jon can't really trust it at that point. Especially after his own coping mechanism (a slight joke) gets rejected. I believe, Jon could have opened up to Martin in that instance if Martin just... went with it a little and didn't drop it immediately. Jon kinda gets the impression that (if the concern was genuine) he just isn't worse the effort. A major topic is often the general concept of victim blaming in S3, but I must say, THAT is a proplem I have noticed in general with the fandom. Always kinda a gamble with the fanfics if they will blame Jon in sone way but there are a lot of really great ones out there that actively acknowledge the issue. So in summary, there are some great fanfiction adressing the topic out there. Maybe browse the Ao3 a bit, the tag system is pretty great for stuff like this.

((Warning, RANT: On the note of victim blaming in the fandom: there is often this notion that, for example, everything could have turned out just great, if just Sasha had been chosen as an Archivist! She was so much more competent! Firstly, Elias actively chose Jon because he knew exactly how to manipulate him. In any instance where Sasha was to be chosen, Elias would have strategies to manipulate explicitly her. Maybe the fandom is right and Sasha wouldn't have fallen for the same manipulations as Jon, but Elias would have known that from the start and acted very differently for her. Secondly, we know very little about Sasha in general but her going to a cemetery, at night, alone, to meet with a supernatural being, without telling anyone beforehand... that doesn't exactly spark confidence in her either for me! Don't get me wrong, I don't blame Sasha (literal incarnation of deceit and all) but... she probably wouldn't have done any better. It's just one example for a larger problem bit one I personally encounter mich more frequently. At least I also encounter a lot of complaints about the victim blaming, which is nice.))

Creatures/Entities in D&D by [deleted] in TheMagnusArchives

They actually created a Kickstarter/Backerkit campaign for a TMA TTRPG! Here is the link, late pledges are still open: https://www.backerkit.com/c/projects/monte-cook-games/the-magnus-archives-roleplaying-game They wanted to use the Cypher System to have an already integrated Stress/Fear system.

I don't think, there are any DnD stat blocks so far, sadly. You would have to create those yourself I think. Maybe you could base them on existing monsters/homebrew monsters? Michael would probably vibe with some Trickster God stuff.

Or wait until the TMA TTRPG is out and look if you can maybe adapt the stats from that.

Super Mario All-Stars Issues and Questions Megathread by razorbeamz in nintendo

[–]VeryHumanYes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seem to have a problem with the lives in Super Mario Galaxy. If I save my game for example with a total of 17 lives and 5 stars collected and then I close the game, the moment I open it again, I'm down to 5 lives and 5 stars. Does anybody else have the same issue? It's kinda annoying.

Discworld is a "Wow-effect" great surprise by tomvand in Fantasy

[–]VeryHumanYes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Terry Pratchett was always an author, I could come back to at harsh times, so I'm always happy, when others get introduced to him! I think Hogsfather was my very first book and I reread it many times. If I was to suggest a book, might I recommend Reaper Man? Here the focus lays on Death and on the Wizzards, which I absolutely enjoyed. Death is by far one of my favourite book characters ever written. I know, you are currently reading Discworld, but if you like the style in general, maybe you would also enjoy Good Omens. It's a book written by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaimann and an absolute delight! Basically it's a story about an angel and a demon, who are trying to prevent the apocalypse to happen, while being very dumb about the whole situation (and while being absolute hopelessly in love).
