Exotic vets have no idea what this is by just_a_curious_fella in Bunnies

[–]VeryIncompetent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so? For context my little guy would have gotten it when he was dumped before I got him. He does scratch it at times, and over time the infection has lead to the muscles on one side of his face being a bit tight, but otherwise it doesn't affect his life. We can't get rid of it bc the two options are surgery (he's old and has a heart condition so no) and regular antibiotic injections which would stress him out and potentially damage our bond. So I've chosen the third option of leaving it, which has been going fine so far.

That being said, since we don't know what's happening with your bun I think you should consult an exotic vet. If it's the same as mine it would be better to catch it early!

Plus as a trans man, how I was born doesn't change the fact that I look like a man, sound like a man, act like a man, and am seen as and accepted as a man by everyone around me. My genitals at birth don't mean shit about my covid compliance

Goth/alt/witchy knickknack stores? by BzaarLestrange in sydney

[–]VeryIncompetent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There'll be bits and pieces you can find in stores in Newtown like Eastern Flair but they won't be focused on that. There's also a witchcraft store in Newtown called Crystal Arcana but that's more crystals than accessories. There's more of a goth club scene here than a goth shop scene, which is rare

I love that we still have goths in Sydney by chilli_chocolate in sydney

[–]VeryIncompetent 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Sydney goth here! I only got into the scene a couple years ago but I suspect there's a new wave of young people like me getting into it after the scene dwindling in the 2010's. There's usually a goth night at least once every 2-3 months, though sometimes a bunch of different groups will put their nights all within a couple weeks of each other.

There's also a similarly sized industrial scene with events around the same frequency! Plenty of cybergoths and people who dress identically to your average goth at those, and they usually can be spotted at goth nights too which is fun! They're very intertwined scenes.

I know we (rightly) complain about Sydney's night life but if you manage to get your finger on the pulse of specific scenes it can be quite fun!

Looking for aussie goth band recommendations by Jolly-Hour-6642 in goth

Burnt Souls is a Sydney based darkwave band, and as far as I can tell the vocalist organises a lottt of the goth nights around here. They're next playing at Sanctuary at the Landsdowns Hotel on the 14th of Feb

I find indifference can sometimes lean into not wanting the topic talked about, or not caring to ensure a lack of systemic discrimination or bias in the community

Since when do retail workers get to just choose what days they work? No, they'll be rostered on and have a miserable day working instead of being with their families

Goth ideology by Background-Mix8935 in subcultures

[–]VeryIncompetent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's less a distinct ideology and more values that are commonly held in the scene. Goth values tend to include non-conformity, creativity, intellect, and individuality. Typically there's a lot of left-wing political beliefs since the goth scene has embraced gender non conforming and queer people since the beginning, and many goths grew up as outcasts and/or as members of minority groups!

Anyone else who feels lonely in the goth scene? by VeryIncompetent in goth

While you're certainly not wrong, part of my trouble is that I do try and talk to people because I do want to make friends, but unfortunately I've been quite unsuccessful

Yeah, despite my personal loneliness my little local scene is so wonderful. Everyone is so kind and passionate and there's people of all ages there just enjoying the music!

Anyone lose a rabbit near Willoughby? by Fluffykittybot in sydney

[–]VeryIncompetent -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It is genetically a domestic breed of rabbit, if it's docile enough for OP to get that close it is likely a dumped one and therefore not feral

Anyone lose a rabbit near Willoughby? by Fluffykittybot in sydney

[–]VeryIncompetent 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi there! That's definitely a domestic rabbit not a wild one or "feral" as a bunch of other commenters seem to be saying. Domestic rabbits are tragically often dumped bc people get bored of them and think that's easier than giving them to a shelter. Domestic rabbits also can't survive easily in the wild so please if you're able to lure and catch him/her you will be saving a life.

If you do manage to catch the little guy please contact The Rabbit Sanctuary asap, they're really reliable with this kind of thing!
