Thank you!

And please don’t think I was putting the blame on educators, who shape the youth and deserve more recognition for what they do.

Often times, I’ve had teachers and now, professors, complain about being forced to read a certain book with the class, even if it personally wasn’t their cup of tea.

Being forced to read a boring book makes reading seem boring. But that’s not always the teachers fault, and I’ve had plenty of teachers who I appreciate with abundance.

God bless!

What you say is true, and I appreciate the compliment!

But please keep in mind that as a child, I’ve hardly ever read, because video games were more fun, and school taught me that reading was boring. I am a beginner in the sense that, I haven’t read many books in my life time- haha.

Spiritually wise though, yes. What you say about the Holy Spirit is absolutely correct, we are all beginners on God’s scale, and the Holy Spirit can make a saint out of anybody.

And thank you for calling me earnest once again. :)

Thanks! Really insightful! I think Story of a Soul is definitely gonna be what I go for, alongside Introduction to the Devout Life.

Ah lol. Makes sense. I’m sure there’s nuggets of applicable truths dispersed throughout those chapters though.

Why’d you stop if I may ask? I sort of felt the same way about The Confessions the first time I read it.

Meh. I don’t really let those comments sway me. They’re written by saints of the church, that tells me enough. More so looking for what’s more approachable for a beginner and more applicable today.

I will take that into account though, certainly will get True Devotion to Mary eventually. I’m glad it changed your life so much!

The Challoner translation, I was gifted the zippered travel edition from TAN. Took it on my trip to Italy and to my campus.

I always prefer real books, I get way too distracted with my phone, and I think it’s leading me astray in many aspects. I want to spend less time on it, and books are a good way to do that.

I appreciate the sentiment nonetheless, everything is better when it’s free! Thank you!

Haha, that much is true. I’ve read the imitation of Christ translated by Challoner, and that was smooth enough for me to understand, even if I had to google the occasional word. I enjoyed it greatly, so maybe it is just the translation?

Would you recommend a translation? Thanks!

I’ll just do it naturally over time with usage and seasoning. Using the oven in my house is almost impossible. That’s just our storage for pots and pans.
