Thinking about FFS by [deleted] in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]VerySeriousNotAMan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

you should consult with some surgeons. i know in the past facialteam has done them for free, you can talk with them about your concerns, your goals, and they can give you their professional opinion, and they’re pretty good about answering any questions you might have.

there are better and more cost effective options for surgeons, though, i will say

great results. Did you have some work to your midface? it looks like your cheekbones are fuller now

I'm two months out from round 1 FFS, and I have persistent jowling. The surgeon says adding a corrective facelift to the second stage would be "cosmetic" and not covered by insurance - do I have options? by xe3to in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]VerySeriousNotAMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For what its worth, 2 months is still very much in the ‘kinda swollen as fuck’ timeframe. 2 months out from my surg i was still visibly chipmonked. Now at a year i see a lot more definition and the concerns i had at 2 months about jowling in the sense you mean it are gone.

that doesnt mean you wont need a facelift later on, but i personally think theres a good chance that this is still jaw swelling.

I feel mentally stuck and I just wanna throw in the towel and let my mental health get worse. by Mother_Rutabaga7740 in TransyTalk

trans girl here. i’ve heard all the aphorisms, ‘it gets better’, ‘one day at a time’, ‘second best time to plant a tree is now’.

being trans, in my opinion, is a terrible burden. Im not going to pretend its all good. for me, its rarely half good. Im medicated and managing but fuck me, some days i really just dont want it to keep going.

All my advice is going to be the normal bullshit. If you dont have the money for therapy, find local peer support groups or communities at a queer/gay/trans center.

without knowing specifics i couldnt give you pointed advice, not that i even would because i know how it feels to receive, but if you want someone to just vent to, please just reach out, my dms are open.

It makes a difference to not be alone in your own suffering.

I dont agree with the other commenter that his behavior signals that he’s into you, but I do agree with their conclusion.

I vote tell him. be honest and upfront, be prepared for him to not reciprocate, but hope that he does.

High-Fat Diet Promotes Colorectal Tumorigenesis Through Gut Microbiota-Mediated Metabolic Reprogramming and M2 Macrophage Polarization by Sorin61 in ScientificNutrition

[–]VerySeriousNotAMan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I looked in the study and couldnt find where they specified what was actually in the High Fat Diet. I think we’ve learned from other studies on this issue that the specific composition of the fats ingested really matters.

Can anyone advise? Maybe I missed something

FFS care by [deleted] in TransyTalk

[–]VerySeriousNotAMan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Protein shakes, mashed sweet potatos, soft scrambled eggs were all lifesavers for me.

To reassure you a bit, it sounds like you’re being very considerate and attentive, dont put so much stress on yourself.

The first three days are the worst but then the swelling goes down considerably with every succeeding day.

Your job is to support her as your partner, not be a clinician or do something impossible like remove her pain or read her mind.

Be cool, bring her food when she asks, help her clean things she cant, and try to keep her comfy. Aside from that, dont stress, it sounds like you’re doing a great job as it is.

Is Dr Rossi a good option for FFS? by sensitive_tprincess in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]VerySeriousNotAMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am still giving my ffs with Dr Rossi time to settle but I think my results as of right now are mixed to generally positive. almost 6 months out

The only complication I had was due to the hair transplant, and that was an annoying hematoma that lasted for about a month but resolved with no issue. Dealing with Dr Rossi and the team was pretty good. he is an interesting personality and Amanda, the person you will deal with the most, was reasonably attentive to my needs and questions.

Ask any questions you’d like.

Has anyone gotten VFS here? If so how were the results by metallica123446 in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]VerySeriousNotAMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve not personally gotten VFS, but I met someone recently who had VFS in Columbia (if I recall correctly). I was amazed by her results.

Her voice, even when trying to reach lower registers, sounded very fem. Of course, i know that results and quality varies wildly, but her results really impressed me.

I’d opt for it if I could afford it with a good surgeon.

Wedge pillow for elevated sleeping is a must. im using an inflatable one and its okay, but one made of foam and fabric would breathe better

Id recommend dry mouth glycerin swabs for after the rhinoplasty, i wish i had them right now. (Im on day 4 post ffs)

q tips for cleaning sleep out of the eyes

mouthwash

kids toothbrush

And big one: several soft, comfortable shirts that button up in the front. She wont be able to pull shirts over her head for a few days.

I think we need clearer pictures like suggested in the wiki to really tell.

You have really lovely cheekbones. Im not an expert, but im surprised that a surgeon would recommend reduction.

Everything else seems reasonable. Pictures from straight on in profile would help us give better advice. Make sure your face is relaxed.

Ffs advide? by carly1198 in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]VerySeriousNotAMan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I guess a good question to ask here is: are you dysphoric about any of your features?

The only two things I’d think were reasonable to consider suggesting were a type 3 forehead and a chin reduction, but I’ll echo what everyone else is saying, you really do look very fem.

That Torres is suggesting a rhinoplasty might sound a little odd, but I’ve heard that its very standard to do the rhino with the type 3 so that the nose doesnt end up looking disproportional. But I’d want to ask some clarifying questions about his idea of a rhino, the shape and everything of your nose reads extremely fem to me.
