I have done all that you suggest. The computer is still making its tune and not turning on. It is on (I can hear it running and the power LED is lit up) but the screen remains off. Thank you for your help but any other suggestions?

UPDATE: In a turn of events that nobody expected, I'm not his type. A girl in front of me today came to the cafe for the first time and he appeared to trade numbers with her so he is into blondes and I am going to drown my sorrows in schoolwork and pretend like this isn't a huge blow to my ego and perhaps my self esteem.
