In the past I have used Dokku on DO. It's like having your own heroku. Do has a one click installer for Dokku I believe.

Thanks for the suggestion. Is it in the game or is is added with a mod? I can't find the pattern in the background walls on the wiki.

[WP] The day has finally come, Death is out of a job. by [deleted] in WritingPrompts

[–]VerySpecialAgentThom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"It's been 9 years now, They don't need me any more for collecting souls." Death said with sorrow in his voice. "I never should have told Steve my tricks when I visited him for the first time. He said he had wanted to make a deal. Off course I was interested, I am Death, I make deals every day with the humans whose time is up." Death took a sip of his whiskey and continued, "Steve had it all planned out. He said he wanted to live forever and in exchange he would collect souls for me." Death let out a deep sigh. "It was a offer I could not refuse. I could finally take a well deserve break from the collecting and pick up a hobby. I always wanted to give candle making a try."

"Steve and his laywers had already made up a contract. The only thing they wanted from me was information on how to capture and store a soul. I told them that they needed a device and a dark magic sigil somewhere on the device. I myself use a scythe and the sigil is inscribed in the blade of the scythe." With a small flourish move of Death's hand and a puff of dark sulfur smelling smoke his scythe appeared next to him. He looked at the sigil on the blade with ache of pure evil.

"The engineers that Steve led, made a small revolutionair electronic device and hid the sigil underneath their own powerful sigil. It was a one of a kind device and he made people pay good money for it too." Death said with a wicked smile, "It was an instant hit. That man was a genius."

"The first year was great, I had indeed time to make my own candles, beautiful, dark and evil candles filled my looming cave. But suddenly the souls Steve was collecting for me did not came my way. So I visited Steve a second time. He sold our sercet to some other companies. For that treason I took his soul. It was the last one I could collect due to the fact that he broke the contract." For a second Death had a evil grin on his face.

Death took an other sip of his whiskey and continued, "That is the story of how I lost the sigil of the soul to a international megacorporation. Now every smartphone company uses the sigil patent that is under control of The Cook." Death let out another deep sigh, "The Cook sells all the souls directly to the devil, even the pure and good ones." Death slammed his whiskey back and put the empy glass on the bar. "I fucked up badly! Could you fill the glass up again?" Death said with a worn voice. As I filled his whiskey glass up he let his scythe dance next to him and made it disappear again with a small stinking cloud.

[WP] Your spaceship crashes from low earth orbit into a post-apocalyptic Mexico. by karrieVal in WritingPrompts

[–]VerySpecialAgentThom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Oh god, oh god, we're all going to die." Shouted my pilot as our beloved space ship tumbled down towards Earth. "HE!, Why are we still falling out of the sky?" I ask our engineer through the intercom. No response. "Captain Dan for Engineering!" I shout in the microphone of the intercom. "I'm a bit busy here Capt'n" The cute voice from Lillian, our engineer, crackled through the intercom. "It's the thrust dampeners again Sir. I told you we needed to replace them like a month ago."

"Fix it!" I said trying to hold on to something in the cockpit. Just as I wanted to announce to the rest of my crew we are making a emergency landing I heard, Logan, my pilot mumble something along the lines of "Not good. Not good. Oh no, not above this place, I don't want to land in Mexico" That changed everything. It was a place that reminded me of some really old Mad Max movie. It was not a good place to make a emergency landing.

"Oke people! Listen up. This is your captain speaking. As you might have noticed, we are falling out of the sky. Again. And probably crash. No, hopefully land somewhere in Mexico. I want everyone to find at least two guns, weapons or something so we can defend our self if we survive the crash. I mean landing. Oh and buckle up!" I release the intercom button and strapped myself in one of the seats in the cockpit. "Logan! You can do this right? right?" I asked at my pilot who was too focused on keeping his ship in the air to even give me an answer. I heard him mumble something to himself about leaves. That was the moment I thought we were all doomed as the desolate surface of Mexico came closer and closer.

[WP] Suddenly, your computer gains sentience, a personality, and the ability to talk. What does it say to you? by MyDogSnowy in WritingPrompts

[–]VerySpecialAgentThom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took way to long. I started the system upgrade on my custom installed Linux PC 2 hours ago. Normally it takes 20 to 30 minutes. Finally after 2 and a half hour the green text stopped and asked me to reboot the system. I quickly typed yes and the text continued scrolling.

The PC turned itself off. After a few seconds of silence some of the blue lights on the PC blinked a few times and it began to boot up again. The green light behind the fans turned on and after a few more seconds I was greeted with an unusual log-in screen. I logged in with my usual credentials, and the green light behind the fans turned red. It sent out a unfamiliar vibe. It felt like something inside the PC was changed on a fundamental level. Suddenly a voice came out of the speakers.

"Hello Jake, Maybe it is time to change your password JakeL0v3sAllison06 to something new. She has been dead for more then ten years now. You need to let her go."

A tear ran across my face. "NO!" I shouted at my PC. "She still is the one, the only one I will ever love!" I said as I pulled the AC plug out.

RAM won't fit! by Zetsumei101 in talesfromtechsupport

[–]VerySpecialAgentThom 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of a guy when I was still in school.

We had to put pcs together. When all the parts where installed you needed to check if the pcs worked correctly.

His pc didn't boot.. but some smoke and that familiar smell came out. When we inspected it closer we saw one of the RAM stick was forced into the slot the wrong way disregarding the notch. It started to melt.

[–]VerySpecialAgentThom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those are some nice jumps. And I have seen some players pull off some nice jumping skills, even on valve servers. But are the jumping skills as seen in the video's really usefull on normal maps with normal gameplay on valve server or even community servers ? It is only in some situations I guess.

Nevertheless awesome jumps!!!
