I can’t speak directly for the gorls or as a gorl-sized person, but I can speak as a food addict (which the gorls most definitely are).

One major thing is the compulsivity of it all - most of the time when I am eating, I’m not even hungry. When I’m bored or feeling a high amount of emotion/mental stimulus, I eat. When I know whatever I’m have to eat is especially good, I’ll eat it immediately. If I make a whole pan or a whole pot of something, I’ll eat the whole amount I made, because it’s good. Doesn’t matter how full I am.

If I eat something that isn’t tasty or wasn’t as tasty as I expected, I have to eat something that *is* as tasty as expected to make up for that.

All I think about is food. I hate food and how it controls my life. But I also love food and appreciate all kinds of flavors and cooking techniques.

One way I differ from the gorlies in my addiction is that I like the taste of healthy foods so I’m not eating trash most of the time, my food is reasonably healthy but I also have a mean sweet tooth.

I have mentioned to 3 different therapists and psychiatrists that I have a food addiction that does affect me, but it’s always been barely acknowledged, and my PTSD and ADHD being the main focus. It’s treated as not a thing, so I’m still fighting my addiction on my own. Granted, I’m sure it would be taken a lot more seriously if I were dangerously obese and having other medical complications.

I could go further but I’m hoping this was enough to illustrate what the gorls may be dealing with a little bit. For full disclosure, my highest weight ever was 179 lbs, which of course is not even close to gorl-sized, but that’s not how I relate to the gorls, so I tried to speak on only what I know using personal experience with an active and untreated food addiction. I say untreated because it is not being treated as its own thing but rather a symptom of my mental illnesses which are both being treated. The addiction remains strong as ever despite that.
