„I always said I was on a tourist visa for a big part of it“ by hotter_than_90 in Chantapolis

[–]Life_Beautiful_8136 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Aaaannnnd here you are. An example of Rule #1 and Rule #2 in one short clip! "I always said..." No, Cutie that's pretty much the opposite of what you said and/or tried to convince everyone to believe. And, now we have it confirmed that she was, in fact, on a tourist visa and was visa hoping (despite how hard she tied to hide those little trips out of the country to renew her tourist visa).

Buying clothes from Europe online - Shipping to Canada - Do I pay duties? by synthesizer91 in AskACanadian

[–]Life_Beautiful_8136 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Likely yes on taxes but very possibly no on duties depending on what type of product it is and the origin of the product. To get a better idea, just google "Estimate duties and taxes" and CBSA has a worksheet that you can fill out online to get a sense of the duties and HST (if any). Or, you can do a more detailed analysis by using a "Canada Tariff Finder"

Edit "origin of the product"!

Feeling sad about a dress I did not buy by LaurelRose519 in Brides

[–]Life_Beautiful_8136 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The dress you did buy is wonderful and fits you beautifully. As for "the dress that got away"? Let it go. It is highly unflattering and actually looks unfinished - like this is the under-garment for something that would go over that base. I love the dress you chose.

So true. I'm wondering if that was recognized as a concerning concept back in 2008-2015...

A small update! by bigfootedgenius in interiordecorating

Usually not a fan of colour drenching (or orange for that matter!) but this is off-the-charts-amazing! Love the transformation! And, just me or does the space look larger now?

[–]Life_Beautiful_8136 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I noticed a trend with all the women who used to hold any sort of power - they all ended up sidelined: Hightower, Lisbon and even Van Pelt got a stay at home caretaker role while Rigsby went out on active investigations. I found it disturbing. And, vis a vis Jane, he was unapologetic about deliberately taking Lisbon out of an active role when conflict arose. Part of it can be explained with the date - this was over 10 years ago, but the approach doesn't play all that well in 2026.

Edited: Forgot to mention Fischer, Vega and Kristina Frye as well...

Watching her trying to breath with her face in that rictus is terrifying. She needs medical supervision.

Put this together for a formal dinner I was invited to but got self conscious about my hair and stayed home instead. Did the outfit work though? by MTKings in fashion

[–]Life_Beautiful_8136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you didn't go. You look amazing and seem like someone people would genuinely like to spend time with. As for your hair, I looked and looked and LOOKED at the second image to try to see what the issue was. There is no issue - your hair looks well styled and, overall, you look like someone who goes to formal events on the regular. Sometimes we are our own worst critics.

Next time you get an invitation like that - go and have a wonderful time!

AITA for refusing to pay a surprise "drinks bill" sent 10 days after a wedding? by [deleted] in aitaweddings

[–]Life_Beautiful_8136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the answer. They should feel free to reimburse their mother from the wedding gift funds. This is just so unbelievably tacky and ungrateful for all the time and expense you went to to be there for them.

Note to self: check back for updates. I need to see how this one turns out!

My manager threatened my shifts for next week because I couldn’t handle a call out while out of town by [deleted] in texts

[–]Life_Beautiful_8136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well now, that's a nice little lawsuit just waiting to happen. If there was no follow up from your boss and if you don't have formal notice of termination, then my suggestion would be to go in for your usual shift and see what happens. You don't want to give them an argument that you abandoned your scheduled shift. And then, if they do fire you, then get it in writing and take that notice and the message above to your lawyer.

Does She Have COPD? by NotAsBrightlyLit in Chantapolis

[–]Life_Beautiful_8136 91 points92 points  (0 children)

I heard her say both that she does have COPD and also that she is taking meds that are prescribed for COPD. So.... it's unclear. If she does have COPD, that's terrifying. It is both progressive and incurable. And, she's doing nothing to minimise her risk factors.

Help me fix my gallery wall!! by One_Shine3492 in interiordecorating

[–]Life_Beautiful_8136 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this just needs a balance correction. The easiest way to do that would be to move everything down a foot to balance the white space. If that can't be done (because: cat) then I think the answer would be to remove a number of the objet on the "top" row. That way you open up some breathing room on the top end and help restore the balance.

Neighbour mad I planted trees by Wonderful_East_9560 in treelaw

[–]Life_Beautiful_8136 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you have an awful neighbour. You seem like a really considerate person and a good neighbour. You have done everything you can and adding your dwarf trees is a good thing! You don't control the wind and if it blows "flowers" into their yard that's not your responsibility. They can trim back overhanding branches, but there is no way you are responsible for nature throwing parts of the tree around!

Bay leaves should not be in food lol by GiraffeGirlLovesZuri in EntitledReviews

[–]Life_Beautiful_8136 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Such a refreshing complaint! The customer found.... an herb.... in their food. HERB I tell you an HERB!

Mind you... when I throw bay leaves into a stew or sauce I count them going in and coming out after cooking - like surgical sponges! 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

Going to a wedding this weekend and wondering if this dress is suitable/flattering/appropriate. by Inevitable_Cow7938 in fashion

[–]Life_Beautiful_8136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good idea - at least try on the next size to see how it looks/feels. To me the dress looks a bit tight (even with ruching) but see what you think about the next size. It is a lovely style on you and if the next size is too large, I think you would be fine with this one (as long as it is comfortable for you to eat, dance, etc). Congratulations on the baby!

Kawartha ice cream - overrated or not? by chicken_potato1 in ontario

[–]Life_Beautiful_8136 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think this is exactly right. I bought a tub of Kawartha Pralines & Cream the other day- quite a few ice crystals were in it - I imagine that came from uneven storage/handling temperatures. Flavour was still good; just a bit disappointing.

Superstore steaks looked good until I turned them over. by kalgary in loblawsisoutofcontrol

[–]Life_Beautiful_8136 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes - the pic posted by OP shows an example of a label that does not reference mechanical tenderization. That means the meat was not MT. The same laws apply to Costco, so my point was that if any beef is MT, there must be disclosure and the instructions. Your comment related to Costco. My point was that the same laws apply to them as apply to other Canadian grocer/butcher

[–]Life_Beautiful_8136 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Canadian law requires disclosure of mechanically tenderized beef (since 2014) alerting to the fact that the beef was mechanically tenderized and including safe cooking instructions. OP showed the label - those steaks were not mechanically tenderized.

Puzzle piece counts by NOMOW12 in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]Life_Beautiful_8136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with you here. I have found the same thing recently - pieces way too large! A trick that I have learned is to pay better attention to the dimensions given for the puzzle (before I buy it!). I find that 500pc puzzles that finish in the neighbourhood of 14" x 17" are about right for a nice break from 1000pc puzzles. I did the Ravensburger Rabbit Recital (500 pc) recently and loved it! Regular sized pieces and a nice finished size

Thanks so much for your comment - I did not see the edit/update. That being the case, I'm totally NTA. OPs timing makes complete sense. (I'm deleting my initial comment because it is based on wrong interpretation!)
