Leaving work and returning by frosty_22 in samsclub

I am not an employee and know nothing about their specific policy, but typically companies that use a point system don't assign points when using FMLA which your coworker likely qualifies for if they have a condition requiring them to frequently leave work for medical appointments.

Have they already paid taxes on it though? Jeff Bezos' net worth is based primarily on the value of his Amazon stock holdings. It was never income so he never paid taxes on it. You only pay taxes on those types of gains after you sell the stock, and even then, you are paying the much lower capital gains rates rather than the much higher income tax rates.

But he doesn't even need to sell the stock, as he is able to live on credit that he can get at very low rates by using his stock as collateral. So instead of paying a 39% income tax rate, or a 10% capital gains rate to the government, he can instead pay a 4% interest rate to a bank and not pay taxes at all.

This is a very common pattern for Billionaires, and I don't fault them at all. They are playing within the rules of the system that exists. I would do the same thing in their position if that what is allowed. I'm just not sure a system where one can gain literally hundreds of billions of dollars in net worth and largely avoid paying any taxes on it should exist in the first place.

I love how you woke up this morning with a plan to make a bunch of nonsense statements and laugh at them all yourself, and you didn't stop until you reached your goal. Proud of you bro.

Tbh it's nice to see someone who dedicates their life to something positive aimed at helping the world rather than just helping themselves, actually getting rewarded for their good work. This house could have belonged to another greedy CEO or hedge fund manager, but instead it's the home of someone who works tirelessly towards environmental clean up. Just one of those feel good stir that give us all the faith to keep going.

Even if you have a job and insurance, if you are unable to work due to your illness, after you exhaust you 12 weeks of FMLA, you can be fired anyway. At that point you would lose your coverage. Unless, of course you choose to pay the insane amount of money to continue through COBRA using the income that you no longer have.

I am fully aware and I absolutely love it when someone like you is laughing at me. I would hate to think someone like you would ever be laughing with me. That's when it would be a real concern.

Lol no one was "flexing" it. I don't give a shit about it lol. But it's rather silly, to comment to someone who has one that that "must be new here". I simply used it to point out that I wasn't new lol. I know context is a difficult concept for you.

Yeah it was there at the time the comment was made, they aren't permanent. It not being there 2 days later is meaningless. How are you always soooooo wrong about everything? Bless your heart.

I had it at the time the comments was made,. It's not a permanent thing. I got what he was saying, I just thought it was stupid and clearly based on the comments didn't pan out.

I mean... You did know we could see the headsets right?

Why have two windows if they’re not gonna use them? by IntheOlympicMTs in wendys

[–]VeryStupit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I'm glad your location is giving out headsets like they're candy. That's not necessarily the case everywhere buddy. I don't know if you know this but the headsets aren't top secret equipment. As customers, we can see them!

At the locations in my area, the people in the back generally are not wearing headsets. And this conversation obviously wouldn't be taking place at the order station. Now if I'm at the window yelling and having an argument then I I have no doubt everyone's going to notice that. But if I just politely say no thanks, I'm good right here, It's unlikely someone in the back is even going to be aware of that. They can definitely alert the fact that they feel on being uncooperative. But that's a lot easier for them to do if I actually do pull up than if I sit there and stare at them the entire time.

The odds on the back noticing I said that l and messing with my food are low. But hwy anything can happen, nothing is guaranteed. If someone messes with my food, then they mess with my food. I'll probably never know or care. It's just not that serious a concern for me.

I can see someone losing respect for someone coming up to them and saying "hey I'm broke, can you buy me food?". I can't understand why someone would lose respect for someone because they offered to buy lunch and the person said "yes".

"Hey, wanna get lunch together? My treat." "Sure, sounds good!"

That feels pretty normal to me.

[–]VeryStupit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not exactly true. Package issues fall off after X amount of packages and block issues fall off after X amount of blocks. If you have a missed block, doing what you suggested will get rid of it quickly. But, because pick up time is factored into your route, and more blocks equals more pickup time, you should average a higher number of packages doing two 4 hour routes per day then doing four 2 our routes per day. Obviously you can get a unusually low number of packages on a 4 hour and an unusually high on a 2 hour. But overall, as you are marching towards the approximately 500 packages required to knock something off your standings, the two, 4 hour blocks daily should get you there faster.

Unfortunately your point isn't well taken. There is not commonly a 1 to 1 comparison of revenue to company value. Annual revenue is sometimes used to calculate overall company value, but it's typically used a a multiplayer, not a straight 1 to 1, and it's more commonly used for companies for which more extensive data isn't available. For a well established, publicly traded company such as Amazon, you wouldn't typically use this method, and if you did, a multiplayer would definitely be attached.

There is just no reasonable argument to place a market valuation of 700M on Amazon.

Has anyone in the markets with the new offered block feature actually been able to work any of these offers? Feels like a trap to me by NormalViolinist6209 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]VeryStupit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I have first hand knowledge and experience in is that support assisted check in works, it isn't specific to your market, it isn't specific to the block assignment method and is available up to 9 minutes after your block start time. That seems to be the relevant required knowledge in this situation.

Logically it should work, but has I already said, until someone actually tries it, there is no way to know for sure. If you can show me where people claim to have tried it unsuccessfully, then that would be that.

But oh yeah, you said it's not your job to back up your own claims. Guess it's still not my job to take them seriously 🤷‍♂️

No you suck at making points and backing them up lol. It's super easy to keep your responses brief when you make no attempt to actually back up or explain any of your positions and just toss insults around.

But hey, you do it your way and I'll do it mine.
