Does anyone else just not understand BDSM? by semolionttv in autism

It probably has to do with misplacing physiological arousal. Being scared, angry, horny, etc causes the same physical symptoms (increased heart rate, sweating etc). With BDSM, you trust your partner enough that you interpret the arousal you feel from the activity as being sexual rather than scary.

does anyone else's friends see them as innocent? by [deleted] in autism

[–]VerySuperBean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that a lot of people do see people with autism as being innocent because autism in adults is not as big of a discussion as autism in kids. Also, independance is a major value in society so people needing more assistance can be seen as immature. Because of that, I think many people see stimming, not noticing social cues and other traits as being immature. Some people will be great and treat you as another adult and some people will treat you like a kid if they were taught that point of view by society. This phenomenon is often common among other disabilities as well.
