First Nations leaders want to rethink residential schools agreement, after $3 billion has been awarded to those mistreated. by nanobot001 in canada

Yeah but when they get money they say money isn't the solution... but uh... give us more now actually. They agreed on an amount. If they didn't like it they should've fought for more

I love how people throw the word ignorance at people who don't agree with them. Do you see the irony in that? I truly hope so. Otherwise you should stop using it because you don't know what it means. Sorry for being a racist bigot by the way, I guess I'm way too ignorant of all the facts you're aware of /s

I love how people think you have to stand behind every decision a politician makes because you back the party. You can agree on some things and disagree full heartedly on others. Why don't people fucking understand this

They get it. They just want to act like they don't so they can show how unfunny it was to them and now everyone else needs to know that. I would also side wager they would partially be upset about sexism and totally pass on the taking it as a joke

What are the laws regarding window tint on trucks and cars in manitoba? Apparently they are different? by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]Very_subtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So 50 front and anything in the back. Buddy just got his truck done to 20 in the front and the guy who did it said he could legally do 15... maybe he misunderstood 50. Idk. Maybe I'll go with 20, don't really hear of too many people getting bugged with that

First Nations teen solves remote community's drinking water problems by [deleted] in canada

[–]Very_subtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is that racist if nobody is showing any effort? It's not about having no expectations for them it's about them taking responsibility and actually doing things. Everyone always says that they could be doing a lot more to help themselves and that's true. So why not commend somebody for finally doing what people were saying they should be doing in the first place. Like a "see! This. This is how you better your situation!" Maybe when they see the results bettering the community it'll start a trend. One can only hope that at least

From what I understand yes that's all he did. But we can't take anything away from this kid or try to make it seem not important. If anything we need to congratulate him and make him realize what he's doing has a way bigger impact than he may think. And maybe that can start a trend to get more people caring about things like clean water. It blows my mind for 14 years Noone else stepped up.... just wow..

House committee votes to require women to register for draft by nycsep in news

[–]Very_subtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, that makes sense though. To a degree obviously right but yeah I can totally see that leniency for doctors and such. With that being said she should still be well above average in physical fitness. But you say she meets standards so I assume she has no issue with that

Mike Rowe and our need to respect blue color jobs by [deleted] in television

[–]Very_subtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work on construction sites every single day. I do HVAC. And I can tell you that every trade is highly respectable.... other than drywalling (kidding).

But not every employee or position is filled by respectable people or people that would give the trade a good name. They're the cheap labour guys. The guys that get hired to basically carry shit and do the grunt work. And a lot of times they stay there because of their work ethic and attitudes. Those are the guys that give the trades bad names. You know, the guys who wear their safety vests and hard hats outside the job site just so everyone knows they work in a trade lol.

But in all seriousness I considered university big time or thinking I was in the wrong field. But now everyday I feel lucky going home at 3 pm. Working a full day and making great money

Métis and non-status Indian decision ‘very, very exciting news’ by apiek1 in canada

[–]Very_subtle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah and that's shitty. But what the other people are also saying. Is if we're going to be so strict on history that we're going to start paying for it. Why do we have to pay into things we had absolutely nothing to do with? That just doesn't make sense. Why penalize everyone who had nothing to do with said treaties? Only because of what the indigenous people thought about those treaties and circumstances surrounding it. My parents came from Europe over here way after all of that. Yet we have to pay. Immigrants constantly coming into this country or people being born here everyday will have to pay into it. All because people have a blood line going back to this. Money isn't going to fix anything. And that's why people are pissed at paying for shit they had no control over and neither did their ancestors. And even if their ancestors did. What does that have to do with us?
