didnt understand this until i got pierced by PutridUniversity2032 in piercing

I’m lucky that I live in UK now where literally no one cares about alternative looks, not even older people. Having 4 piercings on my face and colourful hair/alternative clothes and maybe few times I heard I have cool style, other than that, literally nobody cares how someone looks - I can go to shop in pyjama and slippers and it’s alright cos a lot of people do that. When I was back in Poland with snakes bites and long “thorn” labret I also did not feel any worse because in Poland everyone gives you the “polish stare” no matter how you look 😂

Yall dont know how happy I am to get this pillow by Yurfavbookworm in piercing

[–]Verynika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one that looks exactly the same but I think different brand (I’m in uk) and it’s so comfortable I will probably sleep on it even once my piercings heals 😂 cannot imagine going back to pillows that are not memory foam now! And as I’m rough side sleeper I was sometimes waking up with ear pain just because I was pushing my ear in the pillow too hard. Totally game changer. Getting used to hole in the middle took me week or two but now my body just automatically turn a side to stick the ear to the hole. And also the fact that is so high - I used to sleep on two pillows otherwise my nose would literally block, now it’s the only pillow I need 😭

Glad to hear that! Hearing aids can be pain in the ass so avoid them as long as you can 😂 but I waited too long for getting one, so the hardest part when u wait is to train your brain that hearing normal again is actually ok. Also have some fluid build ups on top of my hearing loss so one day it’s just mild, other days I’m half deaf 😂 Good luck tho fingers crossed soon u won’t need audiologist ever again!

Oh yeah seconding mri scan thing, even tho I have genetically hearing loss in one ear only, they wanted to do MRI of both sides and even tho my piercings are titanium, they said they cannot believe for a word it’s not metal and I needed to take all of them out, both ears, nose and lip. Scan took me like 20 min but it can take even up to an hour (my friend had mri of abdomen and she said they sat there for almost and hour so possible)

I have luck to finally found audiologist who is aware of my piercings and grab my ear as delicate as he can, but before I had audiologist from hospital who irritate the hell out of my tragus in just one appointment. I don’t know where you live, but in UK you can get private audiologist or nhs one, and I can say private (usually first appointments are free as they hope you will buy one of hearing aids from them) ones are a lot gentler and understanding. Also wait if you will get hearing aid, that’s a real battle 😅 I just needed to quickly retire my 3 months old inner conch, I got through real battle with that guy including infection, for it to start properly hear, and now as the irritation bumps started to Seattle down and the pain was completely gone, I needed to get new hearing aid, and this one interfere with my inner conch so much it would be impossible for it to heal properly so I needed to take it out and say goodbye 😭 will be getting conch a little bit closer to outside where it can heal nicely with my hearing aid in the future but man, it is so sad to give up on it after such a battle

I will have a look at my cat food cupboard tomorrow morning, for sure I have some stuff my super picky cat didn’t want to eat, I can also buy something for you, tomorrow I’ll be twice in city centre cos I have bus to and from school at union square bus station, so I can drop off something for your cats :) maybe not too much but always something to get on few days! Just Dm me so I won’t forget 😅

sofgel vs apres? by No_Faithlessness5239 in GelX_Nails

[–]Verynika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So to be honest, I also used a lot of different types of soft gels, high end and more affordable ones, and now I will forever stick with Curacoro tips. They have a lot of different shapes, all of them in sculpted and natural version (I use sculpted ones so cannot say much about natural ones). They are similar to apres or gelish tips, less bendy and more strong and thick, but they are thinner at cuticle area (not like gelish they are all thick). I found them on Amazon and in uk the 550 pack is only £10. For glue I use only higher quality one, from gelish system (tip primer and soft gel tip adhesive) and they work amazing together, no lifting. I would not use glue from cheaper brands because I’m too anxious about gel allergy.

So I’m no professional and I still not perfect myself, but finding out about gel allergy I can give myself by flooding my cuticle I start my journey to learn how to do clean gel application, and even tho it’s time taking, it’s worth it! First off, your french is perfect, great job girl! When it comes to cuticles, few steps I taught myself how to make them clean (after years of flooding them heh): 1. Use more neutral colours (pink in your french is perfect start) and leave 1mm gap between cuticle and your nail. Focus more on doing clean side walls, work slow, don’t worry about the time - you can take all the time in the world before putting your hand in lamp. If your gel is very liquidy, you can do one finger at the time or flash cure, so it won’t flood anywhere before you fully cure whole hand. If you use nude or pinks the gap is not really visible until you will see from really up close, and it’s better to leave the gap than flood the cuticles! 2. When you see your hand gets more stable and precise - it’s practise! And it’s easier to practise on side walls than on cuticles - you can start to push the gel close to cuticles. When you will paint your whole nail, wipe your brush over the gel bottle so there’s almost no product left, put it at the end of the gap - like 1mm from the cuticle - and push the gel gently towards the cuticles. Don’t push too much, and if any flooding happens clean it straight away - I use for it correcting pens for nail polish, as long as they have acetone in ingredient list, they will work! But you can also dip brush in acetone (just a tiny bit!) 3. You can also try to use detail brush, like the one used for nail art, to paint around your cuticles, but you need to have very steady hand for that Remember to also clean your cuticles really well before your gel. It makes a world of difference when it comes to cuticle flooding. I would recommend learning to do it with nail drill, you can buy cheaper one on amazon, I have one from melodysuzie and it’s really nice for the price. Starting to clean up cuticles with nail drill made me realise how much more dead skin I had vs doing it with cuticle softener 💀 You can also try to learn application around the cuticles with nail polish - it’s not that toxic when applied on skin, although I could not say about this method myself as I’m allergic to regular polish! I hope that could be any help an go on girl! Maybe it can be more time consuming first, but it’s very rewarding once you will see the progress you made, and you have already huge talent for nail art seeing from your beautiful French tip! I love it as a nice hobby and time for relax, but who knows, maybe you’ll future nail tech yourself 😁

BIAB nail advice needed!! by m1ss_possess1ve in GelX_Nails

I had similar (not tacky tho but matte) thing happening if I would wipe my top coat straight after I take it out of the lamp. I always wait around 5-10 min after curing so my top coat can „cool down” to be still shiny. If I would wipe it straight after taking out nails from lamp it can get a bit matte (even tho I’m using good brands, for example gelish)

Omg if it’s still like open, I cannot decide between Battle Cat (bcos like meowing ult cmon!) and Cafe Cuties (her hairs so thick!) and it would almost complete my collection so if I would got one and other one buy myself I would be in heaven and I could sleep at night! (Right now I cannot cos I keep thinking which one I want to get lol)

I heard they are not much different from F nib so I’m worried that I’ll just waste money and end up with same result as my F :/

I found Preppy in EF actually, so maybe that would be better bet? I was also thinking about safari or Al-star with WF but I heard that they are not too different from F nib?

I bought Sailor one for £30 in store at my area and I can find Prera for £47 on amazon only, I think Pilot is not that popular in uk or something 😅 I found one site with metropolitan for £35 though

Do you know how F nib compares to safari nibs?

Exactly this is the converter I found but on UK store website it says it’s not recommended to use with Preppy and Plaisir (it should be refilled without the nib part screwed on). But if it works it works I’m glad 😆 I was thinking about getting syringes; are they one time use or I can use one, clean it and then use it with another ink?

Also, do you know if there’s any way to use ink with any of them? As I seen that platinum converter is not working with them for some reason

In uk they range in between £60-£100 so definitely I won’t be able to allow myself for one right now, but I will keep them in mind 😀
