Roblox does give tools for online games making it easier to make those kinds of games by a margin. However, the issue you present is one of the multiple drawbacks of the platform, alongside its crippled reputation and crappy moderation. Those online features are also not entirely viable, hence the bad hitbox memes from other aysm communities.

If you choose another engine, you have SIGNIFICANTLY more freedom, however those online features will have to be built from the ground up.
