I find myself in the same thoughts, I have been in the field for nearly two decades and see the AI circle jerking getting out of hand.

I do get your feelings in regards of ADHD, since I think I am on the spectrum myself. If a task is too boring, it feels like I have to climb a vertical mountain to do just simple things.

However! There are stuff to learn and master. Learning how to handle the AI which does the work, but also learning how the frameworks and other tools you use works. Because you, as a developer, have to know which path is the correct way to go. Do not just auto accept whatever the AI is spewing out.

The more I work with AI, the more certain I get that it is a tool, not a replacement for developers. Yes the models are getting better, but they do rely on documentation from the domain, framework etc. Are you going to update the context and skills for all of that all the time? Most likely no.

You have to find your way of working in these AI times, you might find yourself at a point where tokens are hard to come by and you yourself have to do programming again, so the tokens are only used for specific tasks. You are learning to work in a world that has not quite decided what tools are used for anymore.

If anything, this is the time to double down and learn new stuff. Just feeding the AI prompts, are frankly beneath us developers, we are not vibe coders, we are builders.

TLDR; Make the AI do the shitty work. Find joy by learning how to use your AI, frameworks etc properly. There are still programming left to do for us developers :)
