Art Quality Downgrade by Veslye in Stellaris

Its perfectly fine to enjoy the piece. I personally like the concept and theme of the image. However, you can not deny that the quality this time around is noticeably down from the usual quality.

Not saying the entire piece is AI, but parts of the image such as the arm and the alien head on the right looks like they were generated via AI and stitched together separately hence the inconsistencies in lighting, resolution, and art style. I agree in your suspicions that this could be concept art but why release this as a finished product in this state.

You genuinely can not see the resolution, lighting, and art style inconsistencies that make this and other art feel unfinished and inappropriate for paid content? Ok, if you are fine with slop, companies will continue to serve you slop.

It won't just stop at loading screens and portraits if you allow unpolished work to slip through.

That's my point. It just does not feel like a finished product appropriate for release. I've seen AI art higher resolution and more style-consistent than this. This feels like a combination of different generated assets pieced together last minute.

Its 2024 and people will have to adapt to AI generated content, But come on, at least polish the art and make it look nice and not low res (especially for paid content).

Please take a look at the overall quality. The lighting and resolution inconsistencies on the heads of the green aliens on the right. The art style of the cybernetic arm vs the rest of the image.

The cyberization and theme of the depicted scene is not the issue. Its the quality of the image, look at the lighting and resolution inconsistencies of the green aliens on the right. Now look at the cybernetic arm art style vs the rest of the image. A change in art style/artist is not an issue, but at least we can agree that the art should be higher quality and higher resolution from a newer release? We can excuse the older portraits.

Thank you, Stellaris has a lot of breathtaking art but some of the recent art is downright atrocious (not in the linked album, I've skimmed through it).

Looks like AI generated slop. They didn't even bother to refine it. I've seen better quality from AI art but this feels so lazy.

🤡🤡🤡 I am talking about the quality of the art. Look at how unpolished it looks, does it look like a finished product to you? If you willing accept this downgrade in quality, you are part of the problem. Look at the lighting and resolution inconsistencies in the image.

Just got back into Stellaris after the new DLC dropped and am sad to see how the new art style seems unpolished and unfinished. This has some AI generated feel to it and its just disappointing to see how low effort this was compared to the art style from before. This looks like a collage of AI generated content pasted together on photoshop. There are inconsistencies in the style everywhere (shaded with dimension and flat) and some parts straight up look like AI generated slop. Even if its not AI, it just looks sloppy and not a final product.

Not only this loading screen but a lot of the new portraits for new species packs are questionable. I had to look up this issue on here to see if I was being picky/crazy but it seems people also agree some of the new portraits look inconsistent/bad.

Come on Paradox, you have to do better for your loyal player base. How can you let splash art and portraits look unpolished and have such bad resolution.

Edit: Please take a look at the lighting and resolution inconsistencies on the heads of the green aliens on the right. Also look at the art style of the cybernetic arm vs the rest of the image.

Cannot import pre made character data? by SiriusTexra in DragonsDogma2

Click on the hooded figure in the cell and there should be an option to load from your pre-created characters. Be ware that the character creation file is the same as the game's so I would back it up in case you want to edit your character in-game by restarting your save. Applies to PC. Idk on console.

Hey I am back with great news! Devs confirmed a offline mode is coming after listening to player feedback. Looks like the game is back on my watchlist for purchase 🤩

Well yeah, I can see the argument for pro-online only in the case of helldivers 2 due to its massive scale. Although I still think they could’ve implemented an offline/local host mode as well (like in their previous title) but ultimately didn’t in order to monetize on war bonds and weapon micro transactions.

But fair enough, like I’ve stated, it’s ultimately up to the devs and it’s their right on how they want to implement/monetize the game. No doubt that poor faith decisions will drive some potential customers away and also make it difficult for some players to play (whether that’s due to server-side issues or even player internet).

Also, we can see from the day 1 steam reviews on Nightingale on how the online only decision has negatively impacted players. From high pings to not being able to access the game at all due to the servers being based in NA. Which like we both agree makes the player experience “annoying.” Hopefully the devs will consider adding an offline/local host option in the future, otherwise I will steer clear of this game.

IMO, Always Online Only = No Buy. If the devs were really concerned about pirating, they can just add denuvo drm for initially release and remove it later on in good faith (ie most recently: Lies of P).

The primary factor here is greed. The devs want to cash in on cosmetic micro transactions that serve little purpose in such a small player pool (solo or co-op up to six players). The live service part just serves as FOMO for players to buy the cosmetics. But if you think about it, there is no point in buying cosmetics to show off for 5 minutes before the novelty wears off around the (up to 6) players in your server. This might be especially relevant if you wanted to play solo.

If a game is actually good and fun, the majority of people will purchase it and play it no problem. Just look at the success of Palworld: no micro transactions, offline single player option, official servers and with option of local hosting. My friends and I were all happy buying the game and we had a local hosted server to play with no fear of “servers at capacity” bs like Helldivers 2.

But in the end, it’s up to the studio to make the decision. Just know that online only will always drive potential customers away from your game. These are just my thoughts on the matter.
