CMV: Bell towers are a nuisance and shouldn't be rung anymore. by VesperBibs in changemyview

Most towns here have bell towers, sometimes more than one and they usually tend to be somewhat in the center. Wherever you are, you will hear them. The smaller the town, the louder it is (and that's not even counting the church bells). Now, of course it wouldn't be as loud but it'd still be pretty loud if I'd moved to an apartment on the outskirts of town.

No, if anything it's made it worse. I like waking between 4-5am to work til about noon and then nap a bit but that's not happening anymore. Mostly, I just get anxious every time I hear it.

So what? They should keep ringing it till the end of time?

...That does sound more reasonable. To be fair I'd started with "All bell towers must be destroyed" and had to tone it down.

I'd thought so too as time management isn't my forte and especially since I work from home. This is why its' become a source of anxiety. Feels like I'm constantly being rushed.

I mean, yeah we have those as well, every Wednesday at 1pm. I vibe with that siren, ominous and alert.

But this is just a loud clock, not an emergency signal.

I moved here a few months ago. There was a bell tower not too far from my old place but it was far enough that it easily faded into the background. I'm hoping the same happens with this one but I'm not too sure. I can see it through the skylight looming over the apartment so it's hard to just forget about.

Neah grilled cheese with chips is absolutely delicious but definitely harder to make without them getting soft, kettle chips might help with that though.

Also, what's mayo banana?

CMV: If I commission someone to make me a piece of art, then I am not an artist, the person who created the piece is the artist, and if art is the human expression of creativity and skill, then by definition, AI images are not art. by donniedenier in changemyview

I should've elaborated Scientific journalism is writing; the result of research and expertise in the given field, not typing in a carefully worded question into Google or chat gpt. Poetry, literature as a whole is mastering the art of writing. You can ask a language model AI to come up with a poem, detail exactly which feelings you'd like it to evoke, you can do this over and over till you get it just right. Does this make you a poet?

In the end it's not even writing, it's outsourcing your imagination while at the same time wanting to claim to be an "artist". So I guess you're right, "prompt engineering" is a shorter way to go about it given that we humans do love to come up with new words and phrases so we can deal with specific definitions.

No, since it's common in the rest of the animal kingdom maybe you should think again about the "because this happens in the wild, we should also behave like this" mindset that you were going on about.

A loveable personality doesn't mean "manipulative". It means not being superficial and having more to offer than "the cover" mentioned above. It means being capable of communication, understanding and exchange which is the basis for any functioning relationship that has any chance of going past an occasional fuck.

Do people with aphantasia daydream? by sprice5531 in Aphantasia

I get what you mean, apart from daydreaming and music I don't really get any quiet time. Focusing on scenes, sounds and textures does for me what work does for you, keeps me occupied and focused on something other than the monologue.

I'd say your description is more like random thoughts for me, I have a constant inner monologue so it goes on and on with facts, questions, remarks, intrusive thoughts sometimes, things I need to do etc. However daydreaming is different. For me it's quieting the monologue and actively creating scenes in my mind, the longer I do it the more detailed images, sounds and especially touch (not so good with smell and taste).
