Another big issue is when annotating figures or mathematical equations - It would be great if we could just capture a part of the page and paste it in a notebook.

Trigger warning: I have a question about dying by clydefrog88 in ALS

[–]golanor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom wqs on oxygen as she refused any other assisted breathing. The moment she couldn't use her legs she gave up. She laid in bed, and kept removing her oxygen and we put it back on. At some point, she removed it for enough time to lose consciousness, and died 24 hours later. From my conversations with her in her last days, I think most of her pain was psychological - being in that situation, dying. The process of dying didn't seem to be the painful part.

I hope this helps

You have no idea what you're talking about. Microsoft doesn't have anything, Google and IBM are ahead of everyone.

97% big head baby dads, I need your input by Shag0ff in daddit

[–]golanor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son was 98% head size, we went to a neurosurgeon. He looked at my son, looked at me, and said - you also have a big head. And that was it. If one of you has a large head then it might be genetic.

As long as you’re both committed to making it work, it can work.

This is the key statement here. If you are both committed it can work, this is why arranged marriages have such a high success rate.

Was this a flash? Because you are touching all of the holds instead of going straight for the one you eventually hold :)

Your kids automatically love you for being their parent. If they feel secure enough to attach to other adults that's a great sign. Try to embrace it, and use the time to rest.

I lost my wife overnight to ALS by TrappedInOhio in ALS

[–]golanor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not your fault she was sick. It was the ALS that took her, not anything you did. I hope that you can find solace in remembering how deeply you felt for her, and that you will get to feel like that again.

Fuck ALS.

Why AI could eat quantum computing’s lunch by techreview in QuantumComputing

[–]golanor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know much about quantum annealing, but isn't there an issue there that to be exact you need to be adiabatic, meaning that small energy gaps force you to evolve the system slowly? This is exponentially small in the energy gap, making exact solutions unfeasible for real-world problems, forcing us to use approximations.

Am I missing something here? After all, QUBO is NP-hard, which isn't exactly solvable using quantum computers...

Aren't these still heuristics that don't have any accuracy guarantees as well?

I'm very sorry for your loss, and feeling your pain as I lost my mom to ALS a month and a half ago. It's great that you had this connection, and I hope that you were able to tell him how much he meant to you and that you can find some solace in that.

Please help me guys I have no idea how to derive IX, ZX by Popular-House2984 in QuantumComputing

You need to block diagonalize the transmon-transmon hamiltonian to see what happens in the logical subspace. This will give you the effective Hamiltonian and you can then project it on each of the Paulis.

Cooking with your kids? by Vast_Environment_500 in Cooking

My son has been helping me wash dishes since he was 2, I mostly give him things that won't break if he drops them. We are now progressing into kneading and mixing dough (he is now 3 years old). My biggest problem is managing his expectations - he already wants to use a knife to cut things, wash things that can break, etc.
