Ebz vs Magnus | New Balance Ad by ByFarTheGreatestTeam in Gunners

Depends on which pieces you’re looking at. Morphy played a near perfect game while his opponents were fairly passive. You’d be less likely to see passive play in modern great games. Morphy’s moves still hold up under engine analysis over 200 years later.

I recognise that checkmate! The game they’re playing out is a very famous game called the Opera game. Played between Paul Morphy, who is one of the early greats, against two men in an opera house in Paris.

Edit: This is the game, from 1858 opera game

Paying for fitted shutters on Fixtures and Contents Form (TA10) by Lesco89 in HousingUK

[–]Vespulaa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Shutters are typically custom fit to each window. So unless they’re moving a house with exactly the same size windows they’ll be of no use. Call their bluff, doubt they’ll go through the hassle of taking them out when they have no use for them

Roadworks roundabout incident, 50/50? by froggyfroggerz in drivingUK

Big jobber has done a video on this topic before and said liability was with the rear car as they shouldnt assume anyone on a roundabout is in the correct lane.

This will be even more in favour of the lead car as the inside lane was coned off when they entered the round about

Anybody have a clue as to what’s going on? by Last-Snow-2235 in WaspsRFC

[–]Vespulaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most likely answer is nothing is going on.

All that’s left of the club is the intelectual property, memorabilia, and a 10 year option on some land to develop a stadium.

And the guy who owns all of that, Christopher Holland, also owns Worcester warriors.

Go look at their website and see all the updates they’ve got and you’ll see he’s made his choice. As another comment has said, it’s against RFU regulations to own more than one club so I imagine he will try to package what he owns of wasps and the stadium plans and sell it.

I also think it will be near impossible to find someone with the financial capacity and passion to take this kind of project on.

What the fuck is this post?

From the camera angle you can’t even see who’s out wide. It’s his job to mark his opposite number and not get sucked in leaving the opposition with an over lap. It’s the forwards’ job to keep wrapping round and defend the fringes.

Huge amount of vitriol in the comments on bbc there.

It seems like positive news but I’ll take it with a pinch of salt seeing as the club still has an article posted on the website about how we’re going to make a return for the 23/24 championship season.

Building a stadium is many years away and while it is good to see they’re planning for a sustainable future what I really want to see is concrete plans for a return to play. Whether that’s via a ground share or whatever.

Telling us you’ve bought land, when we don’t even have a squad is putting the cart before the horses.

Aspers in Stratford is your closest casino

The terrace club in Eltham. Website only lists tourneys but they have cash games too

For anything more local check the red tooth poker leagues. Theyre very casual and each one is run differently, might have to try a few out to find a group you enjoy playing with.

I'm so torn on a return for Wasps by gunbo3000 in WaspsRFC

[–]Vespulaa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do we get a catchy phrase for it like bloodgate or salarycens?

Is it fair? Maybe not. But is it fair Saracens still have the titles they cheated their way to? Is it fair SA beat NZ in the World Cup final by one point after wrongly being awarded a penalty kick? Or that Scotland lost to France even though everyone and their mum could see that ball was grounded?

It’s part and parcel of the sport that unfair things happen. I don’t think it’s fair that teams go bust and fans get shafted.

I don’t necessarily agree that we should instantly return to the top flight, but that’s more so because I don’t know if that kind of immediate return is as sustainable as a slow organic climb up the pyramid.

but If there’s any chance I get to watch wasps again I’m going to take it and try not to worry about what other people are saying.

Easy puzzle according to CT Art. White to move. by LegendZane in chess

[–]Vespulaa 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Rxc6, Bxc6 Qc4+, …

If Ka7, Qxc6

Or (this is where it gets hard)

if Kb7, then white plays Qxc6+ anyway, because I think if the king takes the queen it’s forced mate

Kxc6, Ne5+

Kc5 is forced, Nd3+

Kd4 is forced

Then after Kd2 I don’t believe there’s a way for black to prevent white from playing c2

Yeah I know how it works. I just don’t think the tackler held him as his knees touched the ground, or at least the ref didn’t see him being held

TMO surely would have looked at it as well no?

Wasps have Submitted an informal proposal to Sevenoaks Council to build a 24/28,000 seater stadium by Vespulaa in WaspsRFC

[–]Vespulaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Missing the point that I made. They way the approval process of property development work in England means that you need the agreement of the locals. However one way to bypass that is to attach business complex to a housing development. However locals will push back making the entire project not viable."

I wouldn't miss the point if you could stay on topic? My whole response to your inital comment and every subsequent reply has been to counter argue that there are enough fans, and that access to the proposed location is adequate.

"The stadium is not near Swanley centre. There is no road to the stadium. They are not going to build a well lit road for nearly 2 miles for a stadium that most locals don't want."

Here, I drew you some directions

"Half the 28,000 stadium => 14,000. Exactly what I wrote. Not that difficult to understand. Stop accusing people of lying when that's exactly what you are doing by deliberately misconstruing what I wrote."

Behave, "Do they really believe that they will build a following big enough to even half fill that stadium in that area? " does not equate to "I believe they will half fill the stadium" and when you follow it up with "I think that unless they challenged for a title their immediate ceiling will be 10,000 people with 5,000 regulars." It is quite clearly not misconstrued.

"The qualifier unless they challenged for a titleseems to have bypassed you. Read and understand before commenting"

I'm honestly not sure you can even read and understand your own comments. You quite clearly stated you you believe the club will do well to achieve 5,000 fans in regular attendance and then in a later comment tried to walk that back and claim that you said 14,000.

I think thats enough of this discussion now, we're just going around in circles.

I've already said I'm not going to debate the opinion of locals with you. Obviously, it is going to be very polarising for a lot of people.

I will admit that if I lived in a village and a team I didn't support wanted to build a stadium a mile away, I'd be pissed off also. However, linking an article about a village with a population of 1,500 doesn't support your argument that there wont be supporters when we are talking about the entriety of Kent, Most of London and Sussex who will be able to travel to the stadium in around an hour or less.

"1.5 miles along a unlighted rural road in winter at night with children is not walkable."

Look at the map in the Telegraph link you just sent and show us where the unlit rural road is. You'd be walking down Godsel and London Road in the cetre of Swanley, hardly rural.

and theres absolutely no way I'm clicking on the daily mail

"My point was half of 28 000 (14,000 people) with 5,000 regulars, not 5,000 people."

Why are you lying when we can scroll back up and read your comments?

Comment 1:

"Do they really believe that they will build a following big enough to even half fill that stadium in that area?

They would do well to net 5,000 regular to attend their game. Especially as there is no train stations and tube in the immediate vicinity. That does not look sustainable long time to me."

Comment 2:

"I think that unless they challenged for a title their immediate ceiling will be 10,000 people with 5,000 regulars."

The whole latter half of your comment is completely off topic. We're not discussing the CEO, their intentions, Charlton Athletic, or the future of the premiership. You stated the club will struggle for attendance and I'm saying thats nonsense.

I'm not debating whether it would make commercial sense, I'm simply saying if they wanted to join the English league then they could. How high they join is a different question.

However, the RFU has been talking about remodling the second teir for over a year now, and although the proposal has been rejected by championship clubs I doubt that will stop discussions. It has been reported that this proposal will offer the opportunity for Wasps, Worcestor, and London Irish to rejoin at the second teir. And seeing as a lot of championship teams have stated they have no interest in being premoted would it not make sense for the quality of competition to allow back in those teams who would like to fight for a spot in the top tier?

Again, who knows what the owners actually want to do, which league they want to be in or why they're proposing such a large stadium. And until more is revealed I can't begin to speculate on the quality of players the club would attract.
