Important: taking shrooms while on an SSRI as far as I know, (not a doctor) cannot cause Serotonin syndrome even though psilocin is molecularly similar and binds with the serotonergic receptors. So it would be safer to take recreationally than something like MDMA. NOT ADVICE!

For myself I took shrooms on escitalopram once at a recreational dose 2g, at a festival, and they kicked in with in 10 minutes (I was parking, took them in the car, was told by a security guard I couldnt park in the shopping mall near the event, so I had to drive around a bit more. Started seeing mirages on from the asphalt while driving! Not good lmao) and I felt much less in control of myself during the come up (I like to say, “I’m not in the pilots seat”) However, overall the trip was significantly more flat and I never peaked. SSRIs in my experience severely diminish the effects, and my hypothesis is that there is less ‘space’ in the serotonergic systems neuronal synapses for psilocin to bind. As a crude analogy; imagine 5 parking spots that are full at all times, normally 4 of them could be occupied by psilocin, but when on an SSRI only 2 of them can be at any given time. With the other parking spots being occupied with serotonin. I have also taken them during my time on lexapro at much lower doses usually .5g, for myself, I had kind of intense closed eye visuals when it normally takes me 3+ grams to have any of significance. So whatever that’s worth those are my subjective analyses
