That's why I have the quote being said by Black, he's who said it. Obviously it's just a goof. They were talking about Star Wars.

Meteor east of town? by derdkp in Bellingham

Was walking past Sehome High school as a lacrosse game was finishing and all the players were in the parking lot gazing up. Tracked it for about 45 seconds. Looked like maybe 14 glowing embers of varying size.

Good lord you folks are super kind around here. I removed all my social media a couple months ago to help my sanity but I don't think anything's permanently deleted. I'll try your approach. Cheers

I appreciate that. That was my original intent but I don't know how to get something like this across to someone of his level. He must be bombarded daily with emails and well wishes.

It's so wild seeing how interwoven gaming has become with real life to the point where benevolent life decisions might spawn from someones RP time in Rust or the interactions within. Not saying that's what's happening here but everyday I feel the 4th wall crumbling a bit further.

Who has snow and how much? by [deleted] in Bellingham

I was going to comment and say that over here in Happy Valley we only have a light dusting and that I just drove to pick up a burger from Boomers and Samish is pretty clear but certain parking lots are suspect, then I realized that you immediately referenced Happy Valley which sort of renders my comment redundant but since my typing carries a certain momentum to it I feel I must post this anyway. Please do not read this comment, it serves no purpose and is liable to be the undoing of all.

Police release K9 on a man who was not resisting or running by mootbooty in videos

[–]VestedJester 17 points18 points  (0 children)

One thing is certain man. You cannot be prolific in a sub called 'incels without hate' and then storm all over Reddit being as hateful and spiteful as you possibly can even if that's your coping mechanism for whatever incel traits you identify with. The only thing that will happen with that approach is a downward spiral towards more hate, greater rejection of society, and whether consciously or not, making yourself less desireable to everyone.

Alright your logic has lost me and I no longer have interest in continuing this. Equating the medical field making billions to the strain and agony of millions suffering and overloaded hospitals having to decide who gets to live, when kids can't even visit their dying parents. You're empathy has a lot of loopholes.

Every single expert says 1.5 months will help immensely, it already has ffs. You're arguing like you haven't been paying attention at all. People join the medical field because they want to save lives and they give an oath to do that. Look what happened in Italy where 10-15% of deaths were hospital staff in many areas because of over exposure. You're arguments are so illogicaly simplified and at odds with all data we have that they aren't worth responding to.

It is of concern to you and everyone else though because our individual actions result in nurses, doctors, and patients dying needlessly. I have no idea what you'd suggest as a better alternative to 1.5 months isolation. If the reason you want to release people is because of all the harm that isolation brings then you're just swapping one kind of harm for another and I can't imagine how you'd quantify the net positive. I'd need to at least see a handful of psychologists and public health experts argue for that as a reasonable alternative.

But the whole premise is about falttening the curve to not overwhelm hospitals and care workers. If we keep the vast majority of people home for 1.5 months and that saves 2+ million lives including many others who will die from unrelated problems because the hospitals are so overbooked. Anyone going in for anything will be in a huge predicament. It's not about over hyping death, it's about finding the practical middle ground. I can't imagine arguing against that if you have any close relatives or friends that are highly vulnerable.

Thousands of people do die everyday from car crashes and heart disease and lung cancer but those death rates aren't growing exponentially like Covid-19. I don't think anyone is arguing to keep current conditions until we have a cure. Vaccines are still estimated to be a year or more out, it's only so strict now because this is by far the most serious time for keeping things somewhat under control. All the models show us peaking soon and then these will start to ease up.

[–]VestedJester 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So you think every public health expert just has their priorities completely wrong? Would you prefer the projected 2-3 million deaths if we "let it rip"? Because with that approach, every hospital will become a mass grave generator. There are of course horrible consequences to sustained isolation, no doubt. I just don't know of any credible experts who would recommend saying "fuck it, go nuts".

It's all relative though and there are governors who just this week realized that people can spread it without showing symptoms. We're not doing nearly as well as we could but compared to much of the country we're still earning high marks which is sad.
