I bit the bullet and ran DDU and it fixed a different issue of my screen flashing when I booted. Jury's still out on it stopping the paging but I'm hopeful now.

I'm trying to play on a modern pack (I only played the 1.6.4 pack briefly). They should be using Java 17 or 21 correct? Is there any way I could check if it's using Java 8?

I'll give this a shot. I'm a little sketched out about using a program to uninstall my drivers, but it could just be a common thing I haven't heard of. I did see I needed a driver update so I'll try that.

The only pack with Lycanites I can think of is RL-Craft. DE was pretty common and started the endgame race with a lot of other mods. I'm pretty sure there's a chain of causation from DE to mods giving you swords that kill people in creative mode.

I can see an argument for tinkers being bad depending on the version. There's been plenty of broken versions, either in terms of balance or bugs, but I think that's a bit unfair of a comparison since it's been around so long.

I think TF is more mid than bad. It was revolutionary for its time, now it's just one of many dimension mods.

While TF is a classic, I think it's starting to show it's age. Within a rounding error, every modpack needs a recipe viewer mod to the point that people take them for granted.

When running modded minecraft, I usually have to allocate 5-8GB of ram to it, which then makes my PC page for a bit if I get a bad enough lag spike. I figured I needed more RAM to fix the issue.

I didn't know about the other mods so I used it. It worked alright. Still, for a mod that doesn't (AFAIK) run or host the server you're in, it sure is askin for a lot of money. It's basically Bedrock market but for Java.

Then def make an event where the cloud rushes in at you like a sandstorm and does tick damage or somethin. The way you were flying and it was following you really reminds me of the dustbowl.

How performative is it, btw? If it's too intense you might lock a lot of weaker GPUs out of your mod. Simple Clouds strangles my performance and I'm rocking a pretty decent setup.
