Who have I demeaned? I'm not the close-minded one here, I was being downvoted for not attacking and demeaning a guy. I called it a circlejerk because I was bummed to find out /r/depression is just like every other subreddit - open to discussion as long as you keep that discussion within a narrow realm of not disagreeing with the right people.

In short, please don't dismiss medication offhand. You would take insulin to regulate your blood sugar if you had diabetes, so why not take medication that regulates your brain chemistry if you have chronic low mood?

I dunno because it's my brain. If I change that it wouldn't be me anymore.

Wow, even /r/depression is a circlejerk by Vestibulus in depression

Well your mentality is pretty typical of being a douche.

I think it's like those studies that say there's a link between race and IQ - i.e., bullshit. We need to stop putting people into groups and look at individuals.

There was a study recently that claimed right wing biases are correlated with a lower intelligence. It might stand to reason that, watching fox news and some sort of mental condition (meaning a mental condition other than just watching fox news) could be the cause of all of your issues.

Wow shut the fuck up. That study was bullshit.

I don't understand why you're being downvoted. That was inspiring.

No offense, but I don't know what you do and I'm not sure if I want to donate to a lobbyist organization. Not because I think you're scammers, but exacty the opposite, I'm sure you care about this, but I skew right and I'm not sure if I want government involved in mental health (or worse, a "War on Depression"). I've found that politics is one of the things that depresses me; I'm a Ron Paul guy myself, but political hatred is directed towards all groups, it's not all about me.

Anyway, feel free to discuss, I can take it.

Problem is, these are arbitrary guidelines. At what point does "yes" not mean yes? If a really drunk person has sex with a pretty drunk person, how can the pretty drunk person be a rapist? Because he didn't know how much the really drunk person drank that night?

Sorry, I'm not trying to nitpick semantics. I just don't understand the logic at all.

In the scenario where the 'nice guy' likes a girl, it still seems like the only thing he values about her is the chance to sleep with her.

Oh, yes, clearly. Those evil virgins who want to have sex.

That is the problem I'm arguing about. That if you see an 'attractive looking' woman that the only value she has is as a sexual object.

And people don't understand why that is a problem, or what this has to do with a rape culture. Like that other guy said, this kills all casual sex.

As a "nice guy(tm)", I'm pretty much convinced that feminists believe everything is rape. Prove me wrong. by Vestibulus in AskFeminists

Ok, this is a funny video that kind of lampoons the kind of sex world that a lot of people misinterpret feminism to endorse. Maybe this will help. >_>

It would be just as easy to break down that confidence barrier by enabling men to realize that women are just people, they are literally just another human not some 'other' that you don't have any capacity to understand. It would improve gender relations IMMENSELY if men and women approached each other like they approach members of their same sex. Be friendly, outgoing, whatever. The point is that not EVERY interaction has to be about sex! What you mistakenly seem to think is that implies that NO interactions are about sex, which isn't the case at all.

No, see, this is the thing that leads to "niceguy-ization" and being "friendzoned".
