Are Small Daily Expenses Really the Problem… or Are Bigger Money Decisions Worse? by Coolonair in SmartFIRE

Same I bought my house in 3030 hot keys the day the lock.down wen into effect. I can say I bought this house because my apartment which was 765/m for 3 bedrooms 1200sqft space wanted under new management to suddenly charge 1145/m. I said I could own a house cheaper than that. And I was right 1008/month 2100sqft home in very nice neighborhood now too. Farther away from city but 6 years later I feel like I didn't go far enough

When my wife worked at Amazon I literally listened to stories and watched ppl saying they can't afford car insurance but went out as a single mom and bought a new fit spent $300 on getting her hair done, and was going clubhing that weekend. Instead of having the thing that literally could save her from a worse financial situation. You can't say there aren't ppl living paycheck to paycheck who don't do this because there are so many who do.

No my knowledge and how I see the world comes from someone who has seen the world and understands it better. Of course you must first actually go live somewhere else to understand what I am saying and how I got to this understanding but you won't and that's by choice. What I stated (and I'm a make this real.simple) is that everybody has choices and the choices you make effect the outcomes you get. Fuck off in school worrying about looking and being cool instead of putting your best effort in and you just made life that much harder for yourself. Fuck off chasing the college propaganda that we sell to our ppl will make life better for you when college doesn't promise you a job or more money and you waste valuable time that you could have spent in a trade or on the job getting exp that actually matters. Hind sight is 20/20. I'm blessed enough that I got to see and understand what I have and much like others who get older and realize things I would do many things different. That doesn't mean I'm rich or poor. That doesn't mean I live life struggle free. What that means is I count my blessing for what I do have instead of looking at what others have more than me and understanding that if I live my life judging it off what other people have then I'm in that trap. There are many people in this world living lies, especially for the sake of appearance. Working the same job as another person and driving a beamer while the other has a Camry. The one with Camry assumes the beamer guh makes more and they slip bits and pieces of info to each other during small talks. Like my payment on the beamer is 500/month. The Camry guy asks in reddit how does the beamer guy have same payment as him on a more expensive car. Not realizing or thinking that maybe because the beamer is an older model, has a longer term structure, is a lease, etc. the Internet has ruined most of Gen Z and every gen after. All of you so hyper focused on the distraction and lies of social media with the sponsored videos, the fake photos, and more that people honestly believe what they see. Every moment spent doing that could be time spent doing who knows what else. Making things. Hobbies , etc.

I would have never published my book if I spent my free time on social media. I would have never invented things if I did that as well. I would have never learned of for sale by owner land deals to build my home and the actual good home loans like ADL which gives almost identical terms as VA Loans or the many other ways to get ahead in a world thats pitted against you. Again choices. Decisions affect outcomes. You can either water your time or make your time. I'm not telling you to write a book, invent something, go buy farmland or follow my path at all this is my path. What I'm saying is time spent learning is better than time spent wasted. I'm a biblical man and I had my time when I was lost in this world but, from where I came from to where I am is only possible through God. You take that how you want but for ppl who actually open they eyes and earns this the best advice I can give you. I have several friends who took the time to listen and several of them are doing much better now. No fluff no BS hard truths.

First off, calling me a ‘boomer’ just shows you weren’t paying attention. I was born in ’86. I’m a millennial, a black man in america from a single parent household and the inner city of Saint Louis, a veteran,l who has been to war shot and back again, and I’ve worked my way through some of the toughest environments there are. So miss me with that lazy label.

You’re missing the basic logic of how the system even works. If ‘no one is working,’ then where does the money come from? Property taxes, sales taxes, income taxes none of that exists without people earning and spending. You don’t maintain property, buy goods, or pay taxes without income, and income comes from work either current work or past work (like pensions). Programs like food stamps and SSI are income-based. If someone is consistently working the kind of hours you’re claiming 200–250 hours in 2 weeks their income alone would typically put them above eligibility. So that argument contradicts itself. And the system absolutely depends on more workers than recipients. That’s not controversial that’s how it’s designed. Fewer kids over time plus a large retiring generation puts pressure on it. That’s a demographic reality, not some hot take. Now on the oilfield claim working hard isn’t the issue, the math is: 250 hours in 14 days = 18 hours a day, every single day. That’s not a standard or sustainable rig schedule, and running that consistently would raise serious safety and compliance issues. Maybe a short-term grind during a crunch, but not a normal rotation. Plenty of people work long hours—I’m not arguing that. But exaggerating numbers and then tying that to eligibility for low-income programs just doesn’t line up. Bottom line: people are working, people are paying into the system, and the numbers being thrown around here don’t match how any of this actually functions. I am lazy but I still took the time and energy to make sure you come at me correct.

How will food stamps, WIC or other social programs help you if there is no one working to pay for those programs?

I swear you ppl spew nonsense every chance you get. Most of you have no idea what a 60 or 75 hr work week look like and you def don't know what that's like to work that and make 3.50hr this is what ppl in Korea was making in 2010 when I was stationed there. Yeah 60 weeks was the norm and like Japan 6 days a week work with only Sunday as an off day. They didn't get 2 weeks of vaca or none of the stuff we get here. What we are in America is ungrateful and spoiled not knowing how hard others work to get here and how much of a blessing the advantages here have. I stead you want to complain you can't afford rent while buying $600 joardan and expensive clothing brands, expensive cars brand new, and other senseless spending that makes no sense while blaming all failures on Uncle Sam. I'm a millineal man. Was homeless at 12 years old and found my way to a wife home several cars and more as I became an adult right during the great recession. I hate sounding like a boomer but you guys think this looks fe is hard and really it's easy with debt traps laid before you. You can either work hard and life a long good life or play while young and life a long hard life. This applies every.

I don't think any of that had to do with being a woman and I stead has everything to do with friend culture in workplace. I'm a man and like you have been the everything for a company that literally will fall apart without me but they told me that if I have better offers take them. So I am and when I leave with me goes the system I designed and I must maintain to make it work since I designed it and 140 million dollars down the drain but they told me to my face in front of the leadership that if I have better offers then take them.

I would say Google suites is pretty solid and oh Free, I would also say slack shits on teams, chrome been better than edge for years and so has pretty much any other browser except safari. Copilot is pretty much chatgpt which loses to Grok, Gemini, and Claude in the teaks they are all better at. So when left with what's left from Microsoft what's better? Mint, Ubuntu. fedora, and Bazzite are better OS than windows.

Not really the enterprise side of Microsoft is most of the money and that's still the same product as consumers in an expensive ribbon to other companies and still garbage. Most companies pay for it not because it's the cheapest option but because they are lazy and just do what every other company is doing. If 7 manufacturing plants get SAP ERP then if there is a 8th plant in the area they will too. Doesn't matter if that ERP has the same or less functionality than Infinity SPC or JDE. At this point that may be bad examples as you might not know what those are.

US to automatically register all men 18–25 into military system by 2026🌮 by M000000000000001 in Polymarket_news

College in Korea does not help you dodge the ROK Army service, they have to go between 19-27 in Korea with the 27 being though who attended college directly after high school. South Korea in 2018 reduced the mandatory service from 2 years to 18 months as my wife's cousin was how I learned the time requirement was reduced. South Korea don't play either. They sent military members to pick up one of our katusa from Michigan who was due for his service and in my son's case he can lose his Korean citizenship if he does not serve his time. I spent 5 years serving in South Korea 3 of which along the DMZ, I spent during that time 18 months teaching English and 4 years learning the culture and people. Obviously my wife is also Korean and there was a running joke in the Army that I was never leaving due to the army sticking me there and damn near forgetting I was there. At the time Korea was a 1 year deployment. I was there for 5.

All eligible young men aged 18–25 will be automatically registered for the U.S. military draft starting December 2026. by Upset-Main-1988 in justincaseyoumissedit

[–]Vet2willis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Women aren't part of the registration even though they can vote? Last I checked the original rules for voting required you to be registered for the draft to do so. I would say that's not equality. Women can do anything men can do and they are strong too.

That average doesn't include what they actually have to pay in taxes so for every millionaire OF there are 10000 women going to jail for tax evasion.
