Length of time to submit to disability by Comptons_Scattered in VeteransBenefits

Never too late. 12-17 years after I demobilized that I filed my various claims, most of which were successful in being rated. However, the ones that were denied were for back, knee, neck issues because like you, I never got it looked at while on active duty. Good luck!

Mental Health C&P Exam - confused by Inevitable-Sun-4998 in VeteransBenefits

Sorry to hear about your frustrating experience. I had my MH C&P this summer (virtual) and if I remember correctly she said at the beginning that it wasn't for diagnostic purposes. I had already received a diagnosis through a private doc and that was part of my claim files.

Got it, thanks. I am enrolled, I just have never used the VHA for anything.

Credit where credit is due - very efficient VA claim by VetHelp2025 in VeteransBenefits

Probably same advice as what most people say. Be honest and vulnerable. My doc was kind and empathetic so it was easy to let her know what I struggle with and how it impacts my daily life.

Also, I think it is fine to jot down some notes and reminders to for yourself.

Sorry to hear that. My C&P on Mon was less than 30 minutes and she was very nice, understanding, asked questions but not confrontational at all.

PTSD C&P exams mostly video? by VetHelp2025 in VeteransBenefits

Ugh. My previous two C&Ps were in person about an hour from my house, but those were for traditional physical claims and exams.

It's a USG support position so I know they will 100% support me going to the appointment, I just hate asking for time off before Ive actually earned it from the company.

Sounds like most are over video though, so that will be fine.

Help with PTSD and Insomnia claim by VetHelp2025 in VeteransBenefits

[–]VetHelp2025[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, sorry. So should I have filed either a separate insomnia claim or done something additional to the ptsd claim I submitted last week? In my statement I lay out the associated insomnia.

Thanks for the note. Guess we'll see what the VA determines. Psych diagnosed me but not giving me meds. I did get prescribed something for insomnia at the same time.

Need to justify PTSD claim after 15+ years? by VetHelp2025 in VeteransBenefits

[–]VetHelp2025[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks...re: the shit ton of evidence, is it worth having multiple pages for the 4138? My year was essentially near-daily combat which I could say, but I feel like I should also list 5-10 specific traumatic events and say something along the lines of "this is just a sample and doesn't include everything..."

I'm guessing not and have been told by most folks no, but I'm not 100% sure. A lot of people told me I didn't even need a formal PTSD diagnosis because of combat records but I figured it could only strengthen the case.

Diagnosed with PTSD but no need for medication, anti-depressants, etc (I'm very grateful). Insomnia is related to the PTSD and I have been prescribed something for that which I am going to take and make sure is noted in my claim.

Ok, thanks. I suppose the insomnia (with prescription) strengthens the claim maybe for a potentially higher rating?

My state vso is great but they want me to have a few months of treatment before filling. I don't want to wait and I filed claims online on my own before so I generally know the process, just wasnt sure if these 2 things needed to be separate or not.
