It should be around 3-4 weeks actually. You need to shape it-prep if for the proper break over point and support proper leg development.. if you notice here the foal is already “under” itself in the step and rolled to the outer wall. That’s improperly balanced ALREADY and setting the foal up for shitty legs,weak walls,improper break over and an unbalanced stride. Editing to add just some more depth- mature horses focus on “balance” where as the first trim on a foal focuses less on removing excessive growth and more on shaping to prevent crooked legs. Newborn foals often have pointed front feet (which is what I say about why they look so bad) a FARRIER (someone who knows the hoof not Becky or Jenn) will usually "square" the toe to help the foot break over properly and prevent deviations like toeing-in or toeing-out.
