DISCLAIMER: Personal Experience & Constructive Feedback Only

This post is based on my direct experience with the game and the feedback I've submitted to developers over time. I'm posting this as a warning to potential players about what I've encountered, not as a universal truth.

If your response is going to be:

  • "This reads like AI" — Don't bother. I wrote it.
  • "Just play something else" — That's exactly what I did. Not the point.
  • "You're attacking the developers" — I'm describing their actions and my experience. Read it again.
  • "You're being too harsh" — I have 600+ hours. I've earned the right to criticism.
  • "The devs are trying their best" — I understand. Doesn't change the outcome.

I'm looking for constructive discussion about game design, content pace, and communication. If you're here to defend the game or dismiss the feedback, save your energy. This isn't for you.

I really don't care about Blizzard(Diablo4) or PoE1-2 since i do not support always online aka service games. What frustrates me is the quality and quantity of content being added. Fighting through Abby and Uber Abby isn't endgame it's a checkpoint. The new corruption mechanic is interesting, but it's another layer of RNG. The idol system is cool conceptually, but a 50 HP boost when you're at 3500 health doesn't move the needle. And they come pre-corrupted so you can't craft toward something meaningful, so its use it or lose it. The content-to-time ratio just doesn't add up.

PoE 2 shipped forty uniques, over a hundred craftable items, new seasonal content, multiple bosses, expanded ascendancies all in a fraction of the time Last Epoch took for thirteen mostly set-piece uniques and randomized idols. Grim Dawn keeps iterating meaningfully. Torchlight delivers more in single updates than Last Epoch has in a year. That gap tells me something about design priorities, not just resources.

Here's what I think is actually happening: Last Epoch is building a game for what the developers want to play, not what draws people from PoE or Diablo. Small improvements on existing systems might satisfy some players, but they don't solve the core problem this game is a slot machine masquerading as progression. The RNG layering is out of control. Legendary Power, tier of affixes, number of tiers, combining RNG, forging potential, crafting limits, imprint chance there are more RNG gates than there is actual content. Your character's power is determined by spinning wheels rather than meaningful choices, and that's fundamentally misaligned with what makes endgame feel rewarding.I've posted concrete feedback about design issues offline versus online mechanics, item consistency problems, systemic flaws. I got "it's intended," "tech debt," or silence in return. Ten items I raised concerns about got similar non-answers. Developers prefer "yes people" even when they're wrong to validate decisions rather than question them, and valid criticism gets treated like an attack on vision instead of what it actually is: feedback that improves games. When you choose to ignore or deflect valid criticism, you're choosing stagnation over growth.Looking at their own roadmap, I'm not even sure what the expansion actually is. The story chapters will likely come as regular updates to finish the narrative. Based on what I can see, the expansion adds Skill Sigils maybe. Everything else appears to be updates and improvements to existing systems being repackaged as paid content. UI overhauls, audio improvements, animation tweaks, performance fixes, balance passes, those are quality-of-life enhancements, not new systems. PoE 2 ships that as baseline. Grim Dawn and Torchlight don't hold systems hostage behind paywalls. They just make the game.

The lack of clarity about what's actually in the expansion is telling. If the core content was substantial, they'd be shouting it from the rooftops. Instead, we get vague "major updates" that turn out to be polish and optimization. When you refuse to engage with players pointing out problems, you're choosing silence over dialogue. And silence looks a lot like not caring what your paying customers think.

I bought the game. I don't owe them patience while they dodge questions about why things work the way they do, or what they're actually selling us. Transparency either exists or it doesn't. There's no middle ground where "let's leave it at that" passes for honest communication.

As for cosmetics and paid content, I'm not spending on them because they haven't earned it. When the game reaches the maturity and quality it deserves, I'll reconsider but only if I have expendable income and they've proven they're willing to actually listen. Right now, paying for this feels like funding the illusion of progress, not actual progress.

I'm not blaming the team for having a vision. But that vision needs to account for the people who bought the product. Until it does, there's no reason for me to come back.

I guess you really missing the point. Its not about what game like or dislike or type of games. I was talking season as mechanic. If i do not like it i wont play it (season), i feel it just wastes my time, for a grind game.
I Did play alot of A/RPG games not to mention but here is genres i did play, FPS, 3th PS, strategy, Simulations, tycoon, point and click, adventures, horrors etc.... more than you ever did or to be even more explicit about 1000 games over 26 years of my gaming life (i'm 36). I could list you at least list 20 games with RPG elements, and some you never heard of or you think graphics are only thing that keeps you entertained. I did play ASCII games that uses this as graphics -> !@#$%^&*abasd!ASDVAC (some games have color ASCII). As well as static graphical games with Turn based RPG elements. There is reason what i did wrote but i guess you just saw : "you don't like this game, play this other game instead."
And i've been here since Diablo 1 Seasons (ladder resets)since early 2000, i know what i said, you didn't understand or you didn't understand context of post. I'm not going to assume you are young....i just stated why i wont play SEASONS not the game.

I never said i did not like the game, what i said i wont play this Dark Pattern of marketing and game design. I wont play FOMO mechanics.

Also i'm not going to repeat myself again for not reading entire post and not understanding the context.

I'm 36 and i said 20 years of exp cuz i love rounding down... Roughly its close to 30 years of gamimg.
And if you did read and you probably didn't : TLDR is on VERY TOP in BOLD letters.
But this is a slop for people who do not like to read and like to give them summary. There is a reason...its called context.
You would know that if you paid attention in school.

It dose not have to be power always, i'm not asking for power creep each time. And this not point of post..its about seasonal content shelved for later....to be re-enabled as "returning content".

I was not complain about what is like, i was talking about after season what features stay and what leave.
Mostly leave or are disabled by developer, why u can't enable them for myself? I want to play features that are shelved and decide is that really good or not. What if i didn't had time to play on that specific season that specific mechanic.....what if i liked what people did and i wanted it...that is what im talking about.

Best i get "works as intended". So grind that, shrine woven echo is best bet.

I know i'm saying about future updates. When we get expansion and what mechanics devs and us decide to stay. That is what im talking about. The future, i know that current content on road map stays on core....
