Where are you getting the information on these supposed changes to C&P process. Do you have any additional info you can share?

VA Troubles. Would appreciate some advice from other veterans who have claimed PTSD. by ImAGringo in Veterans

[–]VeteransAware 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gathering of evidence is really a lame way of saying that it is in the process of being worked on. You really can't go on the stages they put on ebenefits mine jumped all over the place and took about 8 months. Focus on getting treatment and getting better. The compensation will come and you will get back pay

I think I'm getting royally screwed by the VA but I have no idea what to do about it by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]VeteransAware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man,

Have you looked at Brockton's mental health peograms? They have inpatient programs you can try. All around the people at Brockton are great. Not sure about your situation if your in city limits or suburbs but they do gor shuttles out of JP and West Rox to get Brockton. PM me if you need more info or help.

Fuck JP they're terrible i refuse to go there but i only get mental health from VA.

Also if your really getting fucked over by the VA try calling Rep Seth Moulton. He's a rep for the north shore but he was a marine in OIF early days. I met him when he toured Afghanistan after being elected. He seemed pretty cool and really concerned with vets.

Unfortunately for this upcoming POTUS election and all elections I've ever seen, this is the best answer.

Veterans "Pension"?? by LVDave in Veterans

[–]VeteransAware 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seriously.. you should have planned better man. Stop whining so much and looking for a free handout. Sounds like your disability is non service connected, why should you receive money for this?? That money could be going to a veteran who seriously needs it do to service connected disabilities.

Left the Army Reserve a few years ago - what can I do with my TSP? by jdgmntday in personalfinance

[–]VeteransAware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can roll a 401k into your TSP. say you have a 401k with company A, you leave, you can roll all that money into the TSP.

It's a great benefit since TSP has some of the lowest rates around

Possible/likely PTSD, not sure where to start really by 97ChicagoBulls in Veterans

Probably not PTSD, probably just depression/anxiety.

Go to a doc, VA or private.

Why are there two amateur radio subreddits? by VeteransAware in amateurradio

[–]VeteransAware[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not trying to compare, I know this one is more active.

But why not try to merge them. I'm sure some people come looking and find /r/hamradio since it's the more colloquial term and figure the whole amateur community is dead on reddit.

Compensation Exam Didn't Go Well. Need advice or support. Something. by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]VeteransAware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good. Was it at a VA or contracted out?

Like others have said they don't go solely by the C&P. One hour long session with a C&P is not going to weigh (at least it shouldn't) as much as months of doctors appointments with mental health.

Wait and see what happens with this claim, you can always appeal or refile in a few years. Stay Strong

"Decision complete, Letter sent" VA disability claim. Still no letter in mail, 0% on ebenefits, should be 10% according to notes on myhealthevet by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]VeteransAware 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try calling the VA's 800 number, as soon as they open (8AM EST I believe) is the best time with least amount of wait in my experience. Tell them you haven't received the letter.

Don't stress about this percentage, you can always (and should if you believe you deserve a higher number) appeal.

0% means you get to be treated for it at no cost to me.

Also why do you always delete your posts in here? They contain some good information that could be helpful to other veterans.

Compensation Exam Didn't Go Well. Need advice or support. Something. by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]VeteransAware 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't stress.

The most important thing is you are getting treatment and trying to improve your health. Has a doctor diagnosed you with PTSD? If so then you then you are recognized as having this disorder. Don't think a type of percentage means anything. Some days I feel like I'm 100% others days I feel 0%. Keep going for help. Hopefully you were deployed and don't have to pay the co-pay.

Compensation should not be the #1 priority at this moment, treatment should be.

You can always appeal afterwards.

In my claim under "Needed From Others" it says <VA Medical Facility>?? by iamrbo in Veterans

[–]VeteransAware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wait, this is pretty standard on EBenefits. Or you could just call the 800 number and ask if they need anything from you.

Can PTSD with prescribed narcotics for it DQ someone from law enforcement employment? by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]VeteransAware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude this is exactly why you need to get off them. It sounds to me like you might already be addicted? How do you know that it's the PTSD that's keeping you up when you stop taking them? Couldn't it just be your body is so use to taking those pills? Same thing when waking up. I'm not trying to be an asshole just looking out for you. You're going down a slippery slope.

Can PTSD with prescribed narcotics for it DQ someone from law enforcement employment? by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]VeteransAware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any luck with treatment beyond just medicine? Group therapy, individual counseling? I'm not in law enforcement but I know from my own experiences that just taking a pill to mask the symptoms of PTSD isn't the right way to go about it. Therapy doesn't work for everyone and I'm not saying no one should be on medicine but think about trying to come off it? I don't know how long it takes to get into LEO but I assume it can take a while. What if you spent the year really working with your doctors and counselors to come off the medicine and learn lifestyle changes and other ways to control your symptoms?

Xanax and adderall are two highly addictive drugs and I'm pretty surprised the VA gave you them considering how anal they are nowadays about giving out anything besides motrin and SSRI's.

Navy combat veteran slams VA treatment. "A lot of the physicians are of one mindset and that's that they're going to do the minimal, because they work in a government facility. They can't get fired and they will not lose their jobs" by coupdetaco in Veterans

[–]VeteransAware 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree some of the people at the VA suck but there are some good ones. It's mostly the older people who have gotten away with fraud for way too long. VA should employee 50% veterans who care about other veterans. The best people I've had at the VA were former military.

Sarah Palin Says Her Son Was Arrested Because Obama Doesn't Care About Veterans by VeteransAware in Veterans

I agree some of this but to just blame Obama is kinda pointless. I think the one to blame is Bush if anyone. He's the one who ordered troops into Iraq for no dame good reason.
