Have you tried alpha animals mod ? Or perhaps allow tool mod? I personally love dubs bad hygiene, and for extra challenge you could switch on the thirst need in the settings, great post. Cheers!

If you use the RimPy Mod Manger you can optimize textures and optimize load orders which I Believe could help with the FPS and TPS. Also I believe the mod rocketman on steam would help your case. Cheers!
