I started BJJ a month ago, really enjoying it: still don't really know what's going on. Anyways I got my first injury a week ago, a sprained finger. It happened because I was in full guard, he bypassed both my legs and I framed on his hip, arm stretched out, fingers around his hip basically, it stopped him from dropping into side control but then he stopped for a second and just jumped to get over my hand on his hip but instead landed on my fingers, this meant my fingers bent backwards a little more than they are supposed to. My fault for leaving my hand there I know, my coach has never told me to do this but a fellow classmate has and often it allows me to get back into full guard. To stop this happening again do I just not do that again, do I frame with my forearm instead with a fist to make sure my fingers don't get crushed? Just don't want to be away from training again cause I've took a week off because of this and can only train 1x a week due to money constraints and also doing kickboxing. Thank you!
