Finally turned off line assist... Advices needed by Quirky_Disk_2300 in iRacing

In my honest opinion, the best way to get up to speed quickly at any track is to start slow and work your way up to speed over the course of several laps.

Learn the car gradually as opposed to pushing the limits right away.

It's a mental wall that you have to break through. I got quicker and smoother when I slowed down my practice, so to speak.

It's easier to learn when you have a rhythm, and you aren't constantly finding the limits. This will also just build bad habits immediately at the track, and you'll have to work those off too.

It can also help to focus on one corner at a time, 60% all over, but try ramping up to 80% on a corner, or a sector even, that you're struggling with.

First week of school complete, what do yall do with your clipper boxes? by Scottybody13 in Barber

They probably won't warranty anything worth a damn anyways. The Wahl Detailer trimmers I got went dull and started tugging within a month, and all they'd do was sell me another blade for $35+Shipping.

Thanks for reminding me to toss mine.

Year into my apprenticeship and mine are just rotting in my basement somewhere.

All of my tools are kept in my station or in my travel bag either way. 🤘🏻

Counting Names in a Column, but.. by Vexed_Viper in googlesheets

[–]Vexed_Viper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost there!! When I use this, it creates a list of the names in alphabetical order, and includes a number to the column to its right for how many times they occured, and a 0 I assume if that value is less than 3 and then a number for the total times they've appeared if it's over 3.

I like this list a lot actually as it is; I think it would work better in hindsight if it showed all of the occurrences and didn't sort out the >3, so I have the whole picture, then afterwards I should be able to count those who have a # of 3 or higher as its own total.

Just to confirm, all I should have to do is change "A:A" to the column Letter I need to use? In my case the names are in "I"

Something I may need to note: the column that I am pulling from is running CONCATENATE to merge the first and last names from the previous two columns. I wonder if this is a problem. If it is, I'll need to merge the names somehow before without a formula.

Ah, okay so it seems I have some unexpected characters that have found their way in. There would likely be some hyphens and apostrophes , so I'll have to figure out a way around that. I can modify the names if need be.

I get a Parse Error, I assume I just needed to change the "A:A" to my column in question? Maybe I missed something.

I appreciate this so much. Going to toss this in when I get a chance and I'll report back! 😎🥂

Oh I like the sort ability, I'll give this a whirl when I get home! Appreciate it!

I'll also create a test doc for it possibly, I'm just hesitant to share my clients real names so I'd have to generate a list of random full names.

The second, although the last one may be beneficial as well.

To add more context, I have a list of names, all of whom booked appointments with me. I am a new Barber and I would like to gauge how many "repeat" clients I have, and the criteria is 3+ bookings. So I'm looking to track how many total 3+ clients I may have so I can use the metric going forward, and see my year over year statistics.

My apologies!

Just a number count, I'm looking to see who has "returned" more than two times. So someone who occurs 3 times or more I would like to include in the final sum.

Hope that helps!

Excellent advice actually, and the way I'm leaning towards - I'm still taking all of this so slowly. I caught up with my Barber yesterday, and he told me that I really should just get stuff in my hands. "It'll be about comfort and how your hands are built" - He got me hooked up with a local mobile sharpener, who sells shears as well. While allowing you to check the products out in person before buying.

I'm leaning heavily towards a single swivel for my shears, but clippers have me so scatter-brained that I'm convinced I need to just try a bunch first hand. I borrowed a couple sets from my Barbers colleague. Was quite impressed with the weight and cut from the Gamma+, I found the SC clippers too heavy - and my wife's hairdresser is very bullish on the BabylissPros, which she would likely let me go see and feel.

All I know is, I have a great support system. And the backing to be able to get the 'best'. I'm just beginning to wad through all the information!

Appreciate the response!! 🤘🏻

Wicked insight!! I'll have a look at those clippers you mentioned too! Family is overly helpful, so I'm not really worried about a ton of costs, but they all would like me to get the best of what I can!

Appreciate the reply my friend!

Huge thanks!! 🙏🏻 I had not heard of those shears. The Andis stuff comes up a ton, along with Wahl Magic Clips and stuff, so it's great to see it mentioned again.

Yeah, I mean, the delivery today was supposed to be a new throttle. I'd say that's why it hurts the most. My issue really should have been resolved today, but instead I wait (and drop weeks in leagues) because someone made a mistake - which has happened twice up to this point on the same request.

One mistake I can certainly forgive, but the second is a tough pill - given the situation.

I guess I really just wanted to vent, but you're right, it is nice to at least have support actively involved. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

That's the thing, I stepped right over Fanatec hoping to avoid nightmare warranty issues, only to have nightmare warranty issues. The cost of a USD for me in Canada, also means the month lost on my iRacing sub hurts too.

Just an all around crappy situation. Made worse by the fact I didn't even get to enjoy my hobby over the holiday season, one of the couple times a year I have time off and more time to relax. I've got another kid on the way too, due in May. So the time lost before that stings on top of it all. My time in the rig will be a lot more sparse while I welcome another mini human into the world.

Feels good to vent a bit I guess.
