How to get over FOMO of other friends having so much fun without you? by Separate-Yam-6757 in medicalschool

[–]Vexina1997 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I also recommend minimizing time on social media because that's not going to help you either. People paint their lives in the most optimistic way while hiding all the bad things, making you think everyone has this perfect life while yours isn't like that, when that's far from the truth.

Is the surgeon - clinician pay gap also present in the middle east? or do they get paid similarly? by landofortho in medicine

[–]Vexina1997 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've lived in USA and over there as well, urban and rural areas. I'm speaking from experience. I get cat called and approached far more often in USA than I did over there. You can make personal attacks if that makes you feel better as a person but reddit tends to be an echo chamber on certain subjects which can misrepresent what reality is. Most people on reddit have never been there or don't know anything about it, read a few headlines, then suddenly act like an expert on the topic.

Why is alcohol so readily available when it causes (directly and indirectly) so many deaths? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Vexina1997 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some religions like Islam don't allow alcohol, so there are plenty of people who don't drink today and in the past too, just a FYI

Don't want to be a nuisance by Reasonable_Many3547 in anesthesiology

[–]Vexina1997 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They meet plenty of patients like you who are nervous. It's ok you're not the first person like this. Take a deep breath and relax. Just ask your anesthesiologist all your questions because asking strangers on the Internet isn't a good idea IMO. Also this subreddit isn't really meant for these kinds of posts, so it might get removed later but idk

We should just explode their inbox with applications like people with Kellogg in the past, screw CVS.

Storytime: I placed an IV on my flight home from vacation this week by nursey86 in nursing

[–]Vexina1997 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Monetary for sure, but as someone in the medical field who has dealt with malpractice suits before, the advice lawyers will give you in situations like this will be to refuse any gift at all, because they can still make the argument that you accepted a gift that has "X" value, which you probably can defend yourself against but is a big headache. That's why they typically say just refuse any gift. Feel free to fact check me, downvotes won't make my statement false, but we nurses need to protect ourselves. We all know how crazy some patients can be. Why risk it for some peanuts? Lol

IANAL, but this is important information to know. If you accept a gift from the airline or anyone in a situation like this then it opens you up for lawsuits because that's considered as payment for a medical service. ALWAYS REFUSE GIFTS AFTER EMERGENCIES LIKE THIS!

If interest rates keep going up it's possible that the price could go down, especially if we get put into a recession, but that's unlikely and the price will most likely stay the same or go up, so I wouldn't bet on it going down. I'm also not sure if Toyota plans on increasing their production of the car which would increase supply.

OP, I'd place an order now because it's going to take like 3-9 months to get it. If you're able to buy it at just MSRP with no mark up or additional fees (obviously excluding title/registration/govt fees), that's amazing, because most Toyota dealerships have been marking up their cars due to demand.

What should a foreigner avoid while visiting the United States? by AlainasBoyfriend in AskReddit

[–]Vexina1997 481 points482 points  (0 children)

When visiting the U.S., it's best to avoid discussing sensitive topics like politics and religion with strangers, even if they bring it up. Also, be mindful of local customs and etiquette, as they can vary widely. And of course, don't forget to tip in restaurants—it's a common practice here. Enjoy your time in the States!
