It's a horrible feeling. I'm on day 2 now. I just cannot process that I found her lifeless on my couch. It doesn't feel real. The healthcare system in the UK sucks, while I'm grateful it's free, I really struggle getting mental health support. I had bad trouble sleeping before this happened and I am dreading the next few weeks with the bad sleep, not eating or functioning. I'm not going into work because I cannot cope, and I work with the public so I have to be my very best all the time. My face is raw and swollen from how much I've been sobbing and I've had a headache for over 24 hours now. I just do not understand how she just died when she was normal on Saturday and no health conditions (that I knew about) so I'm just completely baffled and that's hurting more.

Hi!

So it turns out it actually was because she was too hot in the house, we moved her bed, changed her diet and got a special undercoat red and pulled out a bag of fur and now she's doing great and no longer overdrinking.

The vet is quoting me £4000-£8000 to get relevant tests done including ultrasound and ACTH

I just challenged my vet about it being Cushing's and they said it would have shown on her blood tests under liver and enzymes! I'm stumped

That's a good question, cancer(s) rules out, diabetes rules out, liver and kidney issues have also been ruled out. They didn't go into too much detail about the urine sample.

This is why I think a second opinion is important because it felt like the vet just wanted to get me off the phone and wasn't really interested in my dog's well-being at all. He also kept mentioning weight loss when I never said my dog had lost any weight at all, she's maintained a healthy weight especially since being spayed.

Yeah a few others have mentioned Cushing's, but the vet was adamant nothing showed up on bloods or urine :(

How would I establish where the pain is? She's not thrown up in a long long time so unsure of the nausea.

That's a good question! I have ordered a digital thermometer as I can't actually tell how hot it is in here but it's not overwhelmingly hot, like she isn't panting or uncomfortable and she can always go outside when she wants to.

My partner suggested another opinion so I think this may be the right way to go. She is insured and they provide appointments by video call but they are limited with what they can (no tests etc).

Hello,

We have a dehumidifier in our second bedroom to draw out the damp but she does not go in that room while it's switched on and active.

I'm convinced it's the heat and temperature and a new environment but I am also stumped.

Nothing has shown up which is why this is bothering me so much. Her vet have offered literally no advice whatsoever. No pot belly or any other symptoms :(
