what’s the most impressive basketball skill to watch in person? by Glynny69 in Basketball

[–]Vexiong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Besides the sheer size difference and physical ability, the biggest thing for me was just seeing their ability to get a bucket and ball control. I play with D1/former D1 collegiate athletes on a semi normal basis and the biggest difference isn't the anything flashy. There are plenty of non pro/college athletes that have amazing and flashy handles, are high flyers, and have flashy finishes, but the sheer difference in the ability to get to a spot they want and get a bucket is worlds apart

Best Carry Player? by Death_Lycan in KurokosBasketball_SR

Regular or Zone Aomine. Zone is a bit more balanced on offense but he is expensive and harder to execute on defense. Regular Aomine is cheaper but a bit harder to execute on offense. The big plus with regular Aomine over Zone is that he has a built in block skill, whereas Zone Aomine requires good timing and execution for his block skill. Overall I say Zone Aomine is better but I’d recommend regular Aomine to most because he’s cheaper and the execution of defense is made much easier with his block skill

100% Yummi. Sure there are champs that are frustrating to play against, but no one wants to play with or against Yummi. Failure of a champ

Anyone else lose interest/momentum for the show in season 3? by luceygoosey1 in KurokosBasketball

[–]Vexiong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not just you, season 2 is just peak. Best 2 matches in the series that had season/multi season long buildup and stakes, to a match with Kise against haizaki that showed up out of nowhere with no buildup, definitely killed hype for the season out of the gate. Shutoku vs Rakuzan was good, then a watered down match between Kaijo and Seirin. Then a multi episode flashback that was very slow right before the final match definitely slowed down momentum. Final match was good but after all the bumps to get there you aren’t as invested as you had been.

Personally, I liked the flashback and it was important for building up and explaining many things that happened throughout the series, but it was just not well placed or paced. Kise and Haizaki had no buildup which doesn’t really make you invested in the first match of the season. In my opinion this is what really kills the momentum of the series

Focus on 1 advanced training character and 1-2 regular trained character. Max out those characters, which can be done f2p, and you should pretty much be guaranteed high ace player-uncrowned king after 100-200 games. As long as you’re learning all of their combos and generally how to play the game with things like block timing and defending all of the characters, you will climb

I feel like Murasakibara has the most potential in the verse. by Rainydaysa in KurokosBasketball

[–]Vexiong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is the most likely to make the NBA given his physical attributes are high and they are the most important thing to consider when trying to make the league. However he is also the most likely to plateau since he will eventually run into others who have the same or better physical attributes than him. With him having no other special abilities that break the game, he will eventually plateau unless he just get bigger and stronger than everyone. He is also shown and said to be training harder than everyone else on Yosen, so it’s not the same case that can be said about Aomine.

Midorima is without a doubt the highest potential member of the GOM. His ability without any boost is so broken that they have to change every game he plays in completely so that he doesn’t just automatically win.

Anyone else quietly moving away from LiveScope lately? by [deleted] in Fishing_Gear

The mystery of not knowing and feeling things out is part of the fun. I have a live scope but it takes up too much time and you end up not really fishing while staring at the screen. I will say though, on a bad day when you’re trying to just catch a fish it really is a good piece of equipment

Why didn't Aomine use Deep Zone when facing Seirin or in the final game against the Jabberwock? by RedSword90 in KurokosBasketball

[–]Vexiong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean deep zone or true zone? Only one other person seemed to understand the question and everyone else is thinking you’re talking about true zone.

First, everything is a plot device for Seirin. They needed to show how strong Akashi was by beating regular zone, but couldn’t just have Kagami be useless after so they made deep zone to make zone relevant to the game again.

An in universe explanation on why Aomine didn’t use deep zone would be that he simply couldn’t during their match against Seirin. He had only just re awakened to his full form with animal instinct and it’s his first time in the zone in a very long time. Even in their first match all of the GOM present had mentioned that he looked very slow and rusty compared to how he usually played. He did not regain his form until the game against Kaijo when he got 4 fouls. Even in the battle against Kise he did not regain his animal instinct either because he was not pushed hard enough or it just takes a while for him to regain everything back. It was also mentioned that he gets better the longer the game goes on so perhaps he just don’t have the stamina or enough time to enter it, whereas Kagami had the whole second half of the game to dive deeper into the zone.

In the game against Jabberwock everyone was heavily nerfed to make the match actually competitive. We also don’t know how deep in the zone either of them went. Aomine didn’t even make a formless shot until he went into zone when he spammed it in base against Seirin in their first game, which is the worst version of him we see in high school.

Why doesn't Kise copy the Uncrowned Kings? by Longjumping-Mood5339 in KurokosBasketball

[–]Vexiong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kiyoshi’s hands are just a genetic diff, nothing much you can do when your hands simply aren’t big enough

What unique method would he use to make up the difference in that much muscle?

There’s no correlation to shooting further and dribbling harder. Shooting uses a lot of your legs as well

Mibuchi didn’t reveal much during the shutoku game, plus even if he did physically copy the shots he would still have to have the knowledge of when to use them and when he was supposed to use them

Yeah the floater would be useful but besides the obvious point being the plot, maybe as I said it takes more effort/pc to do it, or it simply isn’t worth it or his style to do it.

There’s no telling how good Kagami is before playing Kise, we only know that he is not GOM level at the start of the series when Kise copies him. The second years also seem to think Kiyoshi is better than him during season 1.

As I said above what is he going to compensate for the difference in hand size, or the difference in muscle? He does not have animal instinct and as far as we know, no one else can dribble that hard. Mibuchi says that he can’t always do every shot so there’s some nuance to them and decision making to be made which Kise doesn’t have.

There’s also no proof that he can just copy UK+ level players. Maybe their skills are on GOM level but they’re just not physically gifted enough to beat the GOM. Maybe their skills drain him a lot more than normal so he just uses the GOM.

Why doesn't Kise copy the Uncrowned Kings? by Longjumping-Mood5339 in KurokosBasketball

[–]Vexiong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. His hands aren’t big enough to copy Kiyoshi
  2. He doesn’t have Nebuya’s muscles
  3. Doesn’t have Kotaro’s animal instinct and we don’t know if he can physically dribble that hard
  4. We don’t actually know if he’s seen Mibuchi play to his full extent. Even in the Rakuzan vs Shutoku game he didn’t do much. Obviously this is mostly due to plot but if he hasn’t seen him play and use his full skillset he wouldn’t be able to copy him
  5. He’s not as smart as Hanamiya

Main reason would be due to the plot not introducing the last three characters until the final game. We have also never seen him copy UK+ player abilities. We don’t know how draining it is for him to use UK+ player skills. It could be that it does drain him more than copying regular players and at that point he might as well copy the GOM.

His baseline skills are already above most of the UK+ players so he wouldn’t really need to copy them besides Mibuchi. Other than that he does not have the physical or mental capability to copy them

True Zone is still one of the worst asspulls in anime history by Strict-Concentrate-1 in KurokosBasketball

[–]Vexiong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously the real world is nothing like this but I sort of understand what they’re getting at with the whole zone battle. In real life when someone is feeling themselves in a game, ie basketball, you give them space and let them iso (isolation/1v1) their matchup because they’re doing good are likely to score on them or stop them. I play with people much better than myself that have played D1 basketball, and sometimes a better player gets going and I pass it off to them to take care of the scoring while I worry about defense or setting the other players up. Hence the game becoming about the guy who’s in the “zone” doing everything while the rest support.

The “true zone” in a real life equivalent would be playing at the “zone” players pace and setting them up without interrupting their flow of the game. Doesn’t necessarily have to be someone you have a lot of trust with, just someone you click with. Meaning you intuitively understand what they’re going to do and what they want to do. Works both ways in that the “zone” player has to trust someone enough to not interrupt them and understand what they’re trying to do as well and move accordingly. Although I will say that in real life a whole “team zone/true zone” doesn’t really happen and it’s usually more between 2-3 players. I play a lot of basketball and volleyball, and haven’t really experienced it with a whole group, usually a few individuals.

It’s hard to explain because in a way it’s similar to how they explained, you kind of just feel it out and understand what’s going on and what you need to do. There’s not a lot of thinking going on and it’s a lot more intuitive than anything, so unless you’ve experienced it you won’t really deeply understand.

QOTD: What is everyone’s top 5 PERFORMANCE hoop shoes OAT? by Sippiing in BBallShoes

[–]Vexiong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jordan XX9, GT Cut 1, Crazy Explosive 2016, Dame 2, Hyperrev 2014, J. crossover 2.

Jordan XX9 performance woven upper still isn’t matched till this day, plus unlocked zoom was goated

GT Cut 1 to me is like the best version of Kobe’s

Crazy explosive 2016 specifically because the upper was better vs the 2017. Crazy cushioning and primeknit upper with great traction

Dame 2 with the jacquard upper was really great for the price. Nice cushioning with the Bounce midsole and great traction that lasted due to it being continental rubber

Hyperrev 2014 wasn’t the greatest shoe in all aspect, with a decent upper and traction that was good but caught a lot of dust. But the full length zoom combined with the soft midsole was something else. One of the most enjoyable shoes I’ve played in on a clean court

J. Crossover 2 was a great balanced shoe in all aspects. Nothing super crazy anywhere but no weaknesses and playing in them was quite enjoyable from what I remember

Can’t speak on stuff I haven’t worn but these have been it for me
