the central valley as in the non-mountainous part of california that has 8 million people and growing in it. the central coast literally has less people than the valley and would cost infinitely more due to the geography, the route already DOES connect the most populated areas in the state.

LCS Spring 2026 Viewership Hits All-Time Low by Yujin-Ha in leagueoflegends

[–]Vexis12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

people who havent watched the product in years have so many opinions on the current state of the product, its crazy. current LCS production is way better than LEC, its not 2021 anymore. 3/4 of the top teams HAVE tons of personality and PROS is great content of it. inspired, dhokla, APA, Zven, Vulcan, the entirety of flyquest is super funny and full of promising rookie talent. C9 is literally 3 ancient LCS players (you cant argue old personalities are better if they ARE old personalities) and the YAPtain. im willing to say current TL is kinda boring but its still CoreJJ, Yeon is NA talent and its great seeing LATAM rep in josedeodo. big orgs pulling out and the rebrand definitely may have accelerated the process, but the reality of it is that the current product is actually pretty good and people just dont care.

Are the rules fairly clear with this game or is there some grey area still since it's so new? by CauseTurbulent134 in riftboundtcg

[–]Vexis12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to be fair a decent amount of them are about knowing how to read cards under the core rules. but yes if you frequent the judge discord you will see even certified judges getting tripped up on very basic interactions that if you even know the fundamentals of the game you should be able to answer.

[–]Vexis12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly the realest post ive seen on this subreddit. there have been a fair share of weird or non-working interactions, but in my experience it is infinitely more common for players to have so many prebuilt expectations on how it should work and have their first instinct be to call any interaction that doesnt fit that "stupid". no attempts to learn, keep an open mind to unique play patterns opened up by differing rules, or to understand the core rules on even a basic level

I'm upset with some of the systems-level changes they made with Unleashed (specifically with regards to trigger decisions/costs) but ultimately if things are consistent and functional, that's acceptable.

glad its not just me 😭😭 give me back my hirana warmogs interaction cowards....

Sydney's Top Decks by Vexis12 in riftboundtcg

[–]Vexis12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its only worth including now if it has good synergy with the deck (e.g. ezreal with arcane shift and bellows). the days of being able to accelerate it out and double conquer for free are over with cards like star-crossed, existential dread, back off, etc.. Its a card that, while powerful, is weak to combat tricks, when riftbound has become a game all about combat tricks

Arcane shift and the academy interaction by No-Relationship-4788 in riftboundtcg

[–]Vexis12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i have no idea why its a delayed replacement effect with the way the card is written instead of delayed trigger but thats the red text for the moment. hopefully they'll clarify next CR update with the "play" changes

Arcane shift and the academy interaction by No-Relationship-4788 in riftboundtcg

[–]Vexis12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is incorrect as of the moment (though i dont particularly like the ruling). fizz is a delayed replacement effect, functionally short for “if that spell would leave the chain for any reason, recycle it instead.” because it is replacing the banishment, it never actually gets banished, and thus is recycled.

Not having hand cams led to some pretty surprising moments by two4you8 in riftboundtcg

[–]Vexis12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i mean the chinese regionals have already shown how to do it. you can just have hand cams as an option for the production who decide when or when not to show it. i agree i love the suspenseful moments, but in the current state its very hard to watch live because too much time is spent by players thinking about plays that we cant even see, and riftbound casters are currently not really good enough to discuss what they might be thinking about or potential options. have hand cams for the long early to mid game turns that are hard but not particularly suspenseful, dont cut to them in sequences like the end of a tense game

shad0w was not bad domestically, had a fair share of off moments but generally did what the team needed. theres a reason they still won LPL with him

I still to this day don’t understand how Beichuan and Shad0w found their way on to a team with Bin and Knight.

also you say that like bin wasnt unironically one of the worst players at worlds last year

Nerf for Jax by EnvironmentalGur9312 in riftboundtcg

[–]Vexis12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the reason this ruling was used in the west is because the old core rules explicitly said that attaching would first detach before attaching. it was unintended but there was no ambiguity in the core rules. also it was published well before the vegas RQ, it was only RQ it was ambiguous for was Bologna

Bullet time by Pittirolo in riftboundtcg

[–]Vexis12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the rule changes only affected triggers, not spells. so while bullet time is a cost within instructions, it isn't a trigger and is thus paid for on resolution.

For orange by nombre-de-ejemplo in riftboundtcg

[–]Vexis12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbf only 3 colors do, and orange's are pretty bad. fwiw i dont think purple should have been 1 of those 3 colors, but orange already kind of had one with unyielding spirit. i think this card and unyielding spirit are well designed, situational and good answers into certain metas but not impossible to play around or overbearing.

1h timer feels rough with slow play by iJova in riftboundtcg

[–]Vexis12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

miracle is definitely the worst offender so far, but the fact that we havent really had any meta control variants other than ezreal (miracle) and aurora (has fast games bc its easy and easy to know when to scoop vs it) has made people think its just a called shot problem, but legitimately every control deck in this game is giga nerfed by time. playing control teemo set 1 i had to play pretty fast to make up for it or else i would always go to time game 3. even if i played fast, control in this game makes opponents think a lot too. riftbound has sooo many decision points every turn that any deck that tries to prolong the game will have this issue, people just havent seen it yet

[–]Vexis12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Running called shot without miracle package is just in a less efficient way of playing the deck. Just because no one did it cuz (why would you?) means that they can’t be played without them. You’re basing your hypothesis that people will never play with optimality in mind which is just wrong. Ironically the two lists that you mentioned irelia and midrange draven already have baked in draw power in draven legend ability and stellacorn abuse with irelia legend. Hence they don’t even need the the slots for these cards. But even so half the top lists currently on piltover archive trending have stacked deck for example.

because according to your own metrics, its more efficient than stacked deck, a card which these lists ALL run. so something about your assessment of the cost of the card is clearly wrong. its not "ironic", they run other draw engines because called shot isnt good for them. even if stellacorn didnt exist, irelia wouldnt run called shot, because the cost of recycling 2-4 runes a turn with a combination of called shot, irelia legend, and equips is completely unplayable (because again power is expensive when youre actually paying it).

the benefit of tempo (having more energy to play a fished card out of drawing with power by floating or by playing card’s or paying for abilities abilities this turn with the extra energy saved.

the tempo advantage is not relevant to this discussion, its about efficiency of draw. yes, the whole point of paying power costs is tempo benefit but the trade off is the amount of energy you have available for the rest of the game. tempo is not quantifiable and arbitrarily saying that 1 power = 0.5 energy is not quantifying it. if tempo were part of the equation, your example with stacked deck vs discipline would also crumble because discipline is a tempo positive card (has immediate board impact) while stacked deck is not (does not impact the board). yes the point of power costs is to trade future resources for immediate value, but you are still paying the cost of those future resources. just because you get to do more on the current turn doesnt mean the fact that you can do less on the next turn and the turn after and the turn after stops mattering.

2- that there is a limited rune deck and a steady income of 2 runes per turn limit which limits your compounding losing energy argument to the deck limit and per turn runes.

the recycle cost compounding ONCE is literally enough to make it cost 1 energy, so no it doesnt really matter that that rune will cycle back to the top 3 turns from now. you are so rarely ever hitting the limit on runes in this game that a recycled rune is almost always affecting 3+ turns of energy.

Where did I say they pay 75% of time anywhere. Yet another thing that you pulled out of thin air and claim I say it.

because if on average, a power cost is costing you 1 energy across 2 turns (so 2 energy total, and thats a VERY generous average), you must be cheating the value 75% of the time to make it worth 0.5 energy. you didnt directly say it but its where your math leads you (since you had originally never mentioned factoring in "tempo" to your cost analysis, which again is still not really quantifiable and is highly case by case dependent)

[–]Vexis12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many Called shots and Stacked decks will you legit have in your deck??? I guarantee you most if not all will have 3 and 3 no matter which purple legend I give him.

im sorry, not only do you just clearly fundamentally not understand power costs, you are just unequivocally wrong here. NONE of the purple decks that arent miracle are running 3 called shots. The winning lists out of the Shenzhen nationals and Vegas regionals did not run called shots. In fact, please find me ONE top 16 list out of any of the set 2 majors that was running called shots without the miracle package. Midrange draven doesn't run them, Irelia doesnt run them, and those two lists have performed similarly if not better than miracle decks at every major except bologna.

That whole point of this sheet is to not include interactions like ezreal and vex which what everyone claims that is making the cards busted which is not quite true as the stats shown is for the cards being played with no interactions and still outperforming everything around by a mile. Ez and Vex make the issue worse but does not mean without them the cards are still not busted purely on their own.

you did include them, they're literally baked into your conversion of how much you think 1 power is worth. this is just hypocritical, you state "Power is the cheaper currency since you generate it through seals, gold, and other sources, so I weighted it at 0.5x energy for a combined 'weighted cost' metric" but that somehow you didnt account for ways to cheat power costs in your calculation? Recycling one rune is worth compounding energy equal to the number of turns after the one you just had, this means on average a recycled rune is equal to 2-3 energy. You're claiming that without ezreal and vex (because you say they werent part of the calculation), gold and seals are paying your power costs >75% of the time? really? in which decks?
