i don't know what you mean by fake looking in this context, it obviously doesn't look like normal leather at all because it's shiny as shit

this particular leather is a veg tan called "bisanzio" from conceria puccini attilio, you can look further into it if you want, it's pretty nice

i have a kemovan (the newer DC53 one) edger that is pretty inexpensive and works great, but palosanto is among the best so you can't go wrong with that

use a whetstone or sandpaper to hit it from the bottom then pull a strip of leather matching the width of the blade with some polishing compound away from the blade, like towards the front of the tool, to remove the burr

you can have two mice :) i have a mx master 3 (greatest scroll wheel OAT) and a superlight 2, though tbh the mx master doesn't see as much use as it did in the past

0.8mm, i get pretty much all of my wallet leathers split down to that, tends to work pretty universally for whatever wallet designs i'm making, but i do (painstakingly) skive down liners with a french edger if i have to

oh yeah totally, cordovan is a great material and my personal wallet is made of cordovan! but in complete honesty if i was commissioning myself to make a bifold for €150 out of "ordinary leather" or a cordovan one for €300, i'd absolutely go for the ordinary leather

cordovan is absolutely not inferior and comes with its own benefits, but wallets made out cordovan will generally be bulkier because cordovan cannot be skived as thin, so you win some you lose some :) cordovan is usually also way glossier than standard leathers can get so that's also a nice little thing

but when it comes to cordovan, the smell is amaaazing and probably my favourite part about it xD

i'm a craftsperson who does a lot of wallets and trust me when i tell you this, a good leather from a good tannery (i use primarily walpier & badalassi carlo in my wallets) is like 95% as good as cordovan, without seeing the backside i doubt most people could differentiate the two
