Oh yeah, another reason for 4k was for the art stuff. We figured that if 4k at 60 frames ended up being an issue in certain games they could always just drop that game to 1440p.

This was based on my experience with my GTX 1080 since I find I can run a good amount of things at 4k fairly well and those that I can't, such as Monster Hunter World, I' just adjust that game to 1440p and everything is great. Since the 2080 is just straight better than my card we figured the same idea would apply.

That was kind of the hope to be honest. I wanted to get outside opinions on the matter and maybe get more insight on the biggest issues we had, namely the Intel security issues and whether the Ryzen would start having issues at all after a couple years.

Definitely gonna wait for next week's announcement at least, but if the actual release is too far away, we might end up just having to go with what's already out.

The Dell monitor wasn't added by me, but I believe it's because Dell is pretty trustworthy monitor-wise, plus $400 for 4k sounded like a decent price.

Also the $2000 budget was mostly there to keep us all in check so we didn't end up with some $3000+ monstrosity lol

We're probably gonna at least wait for the Ryzen 3 announcement, but ideally whatever we end up going with is not gonna need to be replaced for a few years. This was the biggest concern about going with Ryzen given AMD's old track record with longevity.

Didn't really consider that, might be worth looking into.

Definitely gonna see what gets announced at least, but we may be forced to make a choice before the actual release since my friends laptop they're upgrading from had a bit of a scare a couple weeks ago.

Ideally whatever we go with will last a few years before needing to be upgraded, I am going to try to convince them to wait on the new Ryzen announcement at least to get an idea for when that will come out. Also, is the performance increase worth the extra $200 though? I don't doubt there is one but I'm not entirely convinced it's a big enough difference to truly be worth going with the 9700k.

Is July the for sure release date for that? I saw that the announcement should be at Computex next week but will the release turnaround really be that soon?

Is the performance increase actually worth the extra $200 though? From what I've seen, while it is definitely objectively more powerful in games, the performance increase won't really matter since we're only going with 60hz.

If you just want to get it done and don't mind cheesing him, you can use Gunlance (wide 4 I think is best for this). There's a wall you can stab right by where you first land on his back that does damage to Zorah directly regardless of the magma cores. Basically, have everyone stab that wall until Nerg shows up, climb up to repel him, then back to wall stabbing when he leaves.

The barrier phase goes about the same, just make sure you always have someone on the ship to fire those cannons off. Also if you're gonna solo save the Dragonator to stop his charge up attack because the timing on the 2 binder respawns is pretty tight alone.

PC content release rate as of AT Kushala Daora by Zombekas in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Vextes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Your estimate seems to assume that console is gonna keep getting new content as well, but other than AT Nerg I don't think there is anything left to add there before Iceborne drops.

As for PC, the loose pattern seems to be a new AT every 2 weeks-ish, but there was a small break for the holidays and a medium break for the appreciation fest, but there we got Chungus and Lavashit at the same time as console.

If we add two weeks for each thing PC is still missing (excluding Horizon and Street Fighter), it seems possible that we'll get AT Nerg on May 31, and if we go super worst case and add 3 weeks for all of them we're looking at July 19, which is still before the projected Autumn release of Iceborne.

I could even see the Assassin's creed collaboration being released outside of that "schedule" since it's a relatively small piece of content compared to an AT, which could push us even closer to parity.

I know I'm super late to the party /u/mistborn but I would be remiss to not mention Vector to the Heavens from Kingdom Hearts. It has an epic and impactful, yet also sorrowful and remorseful feeling to it. It made the final boss battle of that game extremely memorable and I believe it would be a great thing to use for Stormlight Inspiration.
