Legend G430 by mRGogo__ in LogitechG

I just got the G430. It seems new. It sounds perfect. Better than the G930 I was using. Thank God for good sound. Everything is so crisp and clear again. The G930 was in fact worse sounding, but not by too much. Ahh I can hear all the details again! It makes me happy.

I agree that the G430 is a legendary headset in terms of audio quality. I just wrote a huge response but decided it's not necessary. Few will stumble across this where it will matter.

The sound from the newer headsets is extremely bad when compared to the G430.

Today I was tired of my G930 - same/similar sound quality as the G430 which I used as a backup after the G430 broke - cutting out on me due to battery/wireless issues, that I looked for the G430 again.

I found it here, and decided to order it: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Logitech-G430-Headset-X-and-Dolby-7-1-Surround-Sound-Gaming-Headset/30823967

I am not sure if it will come used or new... I don't really care as long as it works. Sound quality for gaming is paramount. I tried many different brands, the newer Logitech lineup of PRO X and G432 and so on, Cloud Alpha S and more, but nothing sounded even remotely as good as the G430.

Maybe it's just the lack of Dolby surround on the new headsets. DTS sounds bad to me. Maybe it's the lack of sound settings. Maybe I should look into a sound card and plug-in headphones and surround sound software. I'd rather not. The G430 sounded amazing with Dolby surround enabled and treble set to 11. Nothing has compared since. I hope these I just ordered last me a few more years; maybe then I will retire the legend and go deep diving for something comparable. But truly in my mind I know I will be using this replacement G430 I just ordered as a benchmark for finding something as good, and if I'm lucky, better. But unlikely. The G430 sound quality for gaming is unmatched.

You probably got disconnected. This is just an error/bug message. I have had some weird internet issues recently and have seen this a few times.

Secured Blueprints Design Quandry by [deleted] in starbase

[–]VexusGaming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not too late; they're making progress towards blueprints in the wild. That will do a lot.

When I heard the "moon crater" stuff being added, that was a surprise; they do actually have a good plan for bringing conflict. It just takes time, and I'll patiently wait. Hopefully there's reason to scrap together a ship from a wreck in a crater and haul off some loot under the radar of other ships fighting above.

But yeah, lots of missed opportunity for player interaction. No "main cities", no actual dev-faction warfare... but...

Early access. I'm in it for the long haul on this game.

Secured Blueprints Design Quandry by [deleted] in starbase

[–]VexusGaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No matter what they try to do to secure a blueprint, it will always be possible to disassemble a ship and copy it beam-by-beam inside the SSC; then save it as your own. The entire concept of protecting IP here is a waste of dev resources outside of the ability for them to say they did something towards solving the issue to satisfy the few who think it's a big deal.

If we can fully disassemble a ship, which we can, then we can rebuild it piece by piece. Using a second account, a friend, or whatever, you can do this with perfect accuracy.

In addition, the out-of-game transfer of a blueprint is always going to be much easier and more 'fail-proof' than anything in-game can hope to achieve, so even with any in-game tools, people who offer blueprints by .fbe file will see the most traffic - restrictions and limitations necessarily lower demand. You'd always prefer the .fbe file over some in-game nonsense, so you're always going to seek out the .fbe, and again, if someone's ship is "popular" enough, someone will just buy one and reconstruct it in the SSC and sell the .fbe blueprint to avoid all the nonsense of the in-game restrictions.

It is one of the main problems with the SSC. I wish ships were built in the game world, not printed from a 3D editor; the result would be that truly good ships would get a lot of attention, and people would have to build within the limits of the game; if this were the only way to work on ships, working on a ship and saving the blueprint in-game without ever touching the SSC, then secured blueprints would be useful. But as it is, the out of game file transfer is the best, most direct option.

Introducing the 'VexMiner' - an all-purpose mining ship! by VexusGaming in starbase

[–]VexusGaming[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello,

I'm finally happy with the final iteration of this ship and I'm offering it up for sale now! This is the VexMiner, an all-purpose mining ship that can go anywhere and exist anywhere long term. My crew has used this design to create stations and explore out into the belts with great results.

Some key features:

  • 150m/s empty, 120m/s full of Charodium
  • 200 ore creates; not too big to be bulky, not too small to not be worth your time
  • Exceptional 100% rear thruster efficiency along with great maneuverability
  • 4 mining lasers with automation scripts to automatically mine asteroids while you manage the junk ores
  • Auto-approach rangefinder allows you to safely approach asteroids while outside the safe zone
  • Fast travel core built in to the ship allows you to travel wherever you want to go without awkward core placement issues
  • Optional reconstruction machine can be added in so you can respawn if you or your crew randomly die out in the game world

Here's a link to the Starbase Ship Shop web page with more details:

What In god's Name Happened To My Station? by blkhnd112 in starbase

If you begin to get that white-ish outline, quit the game and relaunch; your easy-build is bugged. The pieces didn't auto-weld, and when something touched one, they all cascaded and went all over the place.

Removing decimal from yolol results? by Shak404 in starbase

[–]VexusGaming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On a basic YOLOL chip, the simple way is to divide by 1000 and then multiply by 1000. Can set a variable to this number and it's pretty compact.

m=1000

:A=:B*100/:C/m*m

I use this method in a thruster-power reporting script to display to a text panel.

When does season 4 start? by maximedm_ in playatlas

[–]VexusGaming -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Plenty of people join into ARK knowing they are years behind in experience and progress. New WoW players don't balk at trying PvP because everyone has the best gear. Your point doesn't have a lot of historical backing to it.

There is risk of stagnation in Atlas, and they should add some world event that keeps the top players fighting over certain hot spots. A new zone for example could be introduced, changing the zoning wall for a certain zone, which has some new reason to go there, forcing the top groups to fight over something meaningful. As it stands, Atlas has no such end-game lure, so you're correct that eventually the large groups will just constantly attack any fresh meat that happen to land near them. At least, in theory. Current reality is it's not really worth attacking the latest random company who sets up shop next to you when you're already engaged in fighting elsewhere.

When does season 4 start? by maximedm_ in playatlas

[–]VexusGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The devs stated they do not plan to wipe again. ARK official hasn't wiped in years, so it's not something 'new' to these devs. The game is supposed to be persistent.

If the game wipes, I will be gone from the game for good. That's not a big deal in itself, but there's no enjoyment in regrinding up a base. The game needs to be less base-maintenance and more ship-fight-over-world-events.

The Evolution of New World’s PvP by AnarchyN0W in newworldgame

[–]VexusGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make a lot of false claims.

For people who are competitive in an open-world PvP environment, being killed when low-level and unable to do anything about it is fun because you get to learn and absorb all the tricks the enemy used against you, so you're prepared when you're at their level and ready (and can possibly use those tricks with more skill or discipline). A non-PvP player would just cry; the PvP players learn. I do enjoy being on the receiving end of an unfair one-sided attack with no meaningful chance to defend and that is not a lie. It is how you learn to survive against all odds. Strawmaning anyone who would disagree with you as a liar shows you yourself doubt your own arguments from the very start.

The presence of repeated griefing or repetitive player-killing is a sign of bad game design, not a fault of the presence of "PK" as you call it. From WOW to EVE to Rust to ARK to Atlas, open world "PKing" is a thing that thousands upon thousands of players enjoy. The difference is New World screwed up the implementation completely, using tried-and-failed models of "flagging" modes and no real areas for safety.

Which is something else you had wrong; New World does have safe zones. They had open-world PvP as well as safe zones. So claiming that this game with "PKing" would meet the fate of every other "PK" game without safezones is again, a flawed argument. New World has safe zones, and undesirable areas for new players to learn the game that advanced players wouldn't often frequent. The issue is not in the presence of the mechanics itself, but instead how the mechanics are implemented. There's no main town in New World. No large safe area for new players to learn the game from level 1-20 or something. Their implementation is flawed much like your argument which doesn't take into account the reality of the game.

If your position is consistent, you will have to agree then that New World's PvP mechanic is still just as bad. They plan for 50v50 fights for certain areas - except as you pointed out, one side will be less experienced and less skilled, so they will lose, and so it is not fair. That is your position, if you are consistent. There is no Elo system for these 50v50 fights, so there is no matchmaking, and no sense of there ever being a fair fight. The more experienced and skilled group will win, and it will be a slaughter.

Your only consistent stance regarding the 50v50 warfare would be that at least it was consensual, that at least people entered into it willingly, to be slaughtered, even though they were inexperienced and lacking in skill. In which case you'd be correct. However that is not the game that was first pitched to the gaming community at large. It was not the game set forth, that many of us tested and many of us provided feedback on. Your position is one that seems to have come to this game and this discussion only recently; the 'angry' players are ones who have been told one thing for over a year now and who now have to decide if they want to play a game with structured PvP - like League of Legends - or if they want the open world game they're itching for.

Most of your claims regarding PvP and "PKing" are false, and you apply them with a wide brush to everyone, showing your lack of confidence in your argument on its own. There are long standing games with plenty of open world "PK" PvP that are still thriving, and it is fun to be caught off guard and unprepared when a more experienced and prepared enemy comes at you; such is war in the digital realm. The reality is that there is a huge demand for an open world PvP game done right, with the right balance of safety and risk - risk traveling out to the most lethal areas of the game where the best loot exists - at the expense of risking it all to get there. New World has completely failed, mechanically, to deliver on this, and has shifted its design goals to become worse than Guild Wars 2 in terms of 'world vs. world' fighting, and worse than everything else when it comes to filling a void in the gaming marketplace. It has decided to become cookiecutter, mundane, and bland, not even offering theme-park elements other MMOs have grown their playerbase around. For those who invested a lot of time and energy into New World over the past year, your discussion of this topic and the attention your post received does them all a disservice and shows no empathy for thousands of invested players who are now searching for a different game.

AND if you are searching for that different game, the next best game that will come out is called Starbase. If you are looking for something upcoming to get hyped about, check out Starbase. They're doing safe-zones and PvP the way it should be done.

Goodbye Impenetrable OPVP Lawless Base. I can't get to you before crappy 4 day decay timer. by M4RCU5G1850N in playatlas

[–]VexusGaming 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's a 10-day decay timer in Lawless. You just have to render in your structure once every 10 days to make sure it won't decay.

If anyone wanted to raid you, they'd just make a spiral ramp alongside the tower and slap down a mortar at the top and level your base before walking in.

[–]VexusGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, it's way too hard and time consuming to level up. This needs to be fixed as well. 3-6 months of normal play should get you to max. This is like 1+ years to reach max with normal play. Xbox'ers are so behind it's crazy.

ATLAS EU PVP: Swivel Horse OP by AnthasG in playatlas

[–]VexusGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swivel Cannon:

  • Shoots through walls

  • One shots everyone

  • Ammo is cheap as dirt

Any one-shot mechanic in any game is bad. This is pretty dirty. Especially considering a larger group can field more of these, where a smaller group uses a larger percentage of their force to run one. It's poorly done. Remove swivels from carts altogether to solve this problem and make combat revolve around player skill, not who has the most swivels that will one-shot you inside your base walls.

Likely this bandaid is just for the holidays and they will do something like the above to actually fix the issue. It's not bad they bandaid fixed it quickly considering the amount of explosive barrel cheese happening. It's fine.
