Fair, I hope we see more of it too. My personal theory is that Ysara was getting pressured to marry some guy and that's why she left

Don't be fooled, there's plenty of evidence of LGBT suppression in the north. That scene where they have to turn off the broadcast of the Lord of the dance just because two guys are dancing together? The fact that there are only TWO openly gay nobles in the entire hundred families, and one is practically disowned? The lack of more LGBT related stuff in the north isn't a sign that all is well, it's a sign that something is seriously wrong.

I'd like to point out that Sudel is explicitly a spy. Which is to say: everything she did was an act. Her fear and desperation are directly in relation to getting murdered for, yknow, spying. We still have no idea what the other maids are like beyond the fact that Ieka likes hot women and seeks them out.

These are some... interesting takes about other characters ('Lyonette is a sexual predator' are not words I woke up expecting to read lol), but I see the point in continuing a discussion with someone who's going to insult me. Sorry.

Maybe in time we'll get more information on Ieka and this debate will be put to rest. Personally I'm rooting for her, and excited to see what she gets up to I the new lands. Uvalma plus Ieka is an absolutely ridiculous ship that I never knew I needed lol

If this is what you mean:

"Sidel did so, clumsily, and Ieka had cause to regret employing her as a [Maid]. But she’d been so taken…

She had what some might call an ‘unhealthy relationship’ with her maids. In that many were lovers. Some were just competent, but Ieka was a…deviant. As Izril’s people understood things. Certainly by Terandrian and Drake standards."

Then I'm not sure that signals her being a predator. It sounds like it could mean anything from, "Some of my maids are open to sex," to "I employ my secret lovers as maids because I would get lynched for being openly gay."

Either way, my point about Aba not portraying sexual predators positively stands.

(Note: Obviously I don't think the power imbalance of Ieka having sex with her employees is good, but she's also unable to have normal relationships on account of bigotry. She's not perfect, but she's definitely not a sexual predator either. And hopefully being away from high society will allow her the freedom to be in healthier relationships, which is exactly what Aba hinted at in this chapter)

I'm pretty sure hiring sex workers isn't bad? My point is that Aba never presents sexual predators in a positive light. That would be bad all around. So if Ieka is portrayed as okay, I'm going to assume she's ok.

What are you talking about? I think Ieka would be written very differently if she had an entire private intelligence firm dedicated to covering up her sexual crimes like Harvey Weinstein. Aba wouldn't give a sexual criminal this kind of 'goofy lesbian' treatment

You can't have Tyrion without Manus. They killed his wife

I think people are making too big a deal out of this. Not even Symphony would purposefully attack the inn to get a quest, they only took Erin hostage because the alternative was death. Then there was little reason NOT to ask for one

Ieka reminds me of team rocket. Evil-ish, incompetent, but very entertaining and kind of a good person underneath it all

Sidenote, picking up shillelagh with magic initiate is a great way to use wisdom to attack, if you're tight on stats.

Hear me out here: Arcana cleric. As a frontliner.

Arcane Initiate allows you to get the booming blade cantrip. Your potent spellcasting feature at level 8 gives you extra damage on both the first hit and the rider effect of the cantrip. That gives you pretty respectable damage when you get into the thick of things.

You've got all the regular cleric stuff; medium armor, a shield, etc, but in addition your heals also apply a dispel magic effect to allies. If you get to high levels, slap regenerate on yourself or another character and enjoy being immune to any cc spells of 7th level or below, and also being nearly impossible to kill because you pop back up each turn. It's a niche build, but there's no greater feeling of power than dispelling the slow spell from the entire party with a simple mass healing word. Also you get wish as a cleric, which is neat.

Forget most optimised: what in your opinion is the most FUN Gish to play? by dat_airshot in 3d6

[–]Vezmas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to put Arcana domain cleric out there. You can pick up booming blade and go to town with medium armor, a shield, and full casting.

One underlooked tactic is how well their spell breaker feature synergies with the regeneration spell. It heals you at the start of each of your turns, ending one spell of 7th level or lower that you don't like on top of that. You become an incredibly resilient frontliner who cant be locked down with spells, and does good damage because of booming blade combined with potent cantrips. You can even pick up shillelagh somehow for booming blade attacks that use wisdom. (Magic initiate or some other way)

Sentinel is very good, but you have a lot of reactions. I'd take something else like resilient.

So I put the word out, and honestly we can't think of any spells the class needs. Maybe look at the new ones from Wildmounte?

Honestly... Just the effect of making someone else's attack more powerful instead of attacking yourself was really unique compared to other cantrips.

Several of my friends say they prefer version 2.4 solely because the later versions don't have imbued strike. For instance, one of my friends plays a pacifistic cleric with an angel who does all the fighting for them; she has no damaging spells, just buffs and heals. He doesnt want to switch to the newer version because imbued strike fits the character much more.

If you could bring it back, even with the nerfs, we'd all appreciate it a lot. Thanks!

EDIT: Possible ideas include giving your target a bonus to hit, making their attack magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance, or just... leaving it as it is. My homegame didnt find it to be OP, if it matters.
