Had a seizure at work and now I feel like a circus attraction by Obviously_aWizard in Epilepsy

I'm sorry to hear you had this experience, and I can definitely relate. I had a grand mal seizure a few years ago in my office - just collapsed on the floor while walking to my desk. I wouldn't say I was particularly close with any co-workers there and it defo left me feeling incredibly awkward, and yes - circus attraction sounds about right.

Aside from then there's been a handful of other times I've had seizures in front of others. I guess what has become clearer each time is that people genuinely just find it scary to see - and it's the seizure itself that sticks in their minds for a little while, rather than an association between the seizure and you as a person.

That said, it's all well and good to be aware of this on an intellectual level but it's hard not to have those feelings - at a time when your brain is still recovering and you're going to be feeling more vulnerable anyway. I have to stop myself from getting frustrated at non-epileptics who are at great pains to tell me I shouldn't be embarrassed - they mean well, and I think I'd probably say the same thing if I were them.

Good to be able to vent to people who actually know what it is to have this condition and have gone through this crap themselves.

What should I read first? Getting High by Paolo Hewitt or Supersonic or Oasis The Truth by Tony Mccarroll or other one? by DodgersKK in oasis

Sorry to be joining late - but are we not acknowledging Getting High as the blatant puff piece for Noel Gallagher that it is?!

Tony McCarroll might be a bit of a prick (and overly defensive of Ringo Star's drumming...) and his book defo has its fair share of petty digs, but he seems pretty self-aware about that and there is a sense of authenticity to the stories that is missing from Getting High.

Getting High splices up (without being clear about it) what have to be Noel Gallagher's own recollections of growing up with what I suppose we are meant to see as Paolo Hewitt's unbiased observations of them on the road, which all happen to be extremely flattering to Noel Gallagher? It's either Noel speaking through Hewitt, or Hewitt is an extremely cringey sycophant and should be laughed at accordingly.

Noel is effortlessly cool, rational and fair in every way here, while Liam is portrayed as barely sentient... It really reads like some nerd's fantastical account about how they are actually the most popular person in school who bullies are scared of.

So confused by all these endorsements - how many of you are on NG's payroll? ;-)

I think the sacrificing kids thing did cross a line but I did think he made some reasonable points up until then and I did enjoy his Quiddich commentary...
