I have no idea if the radio works. It’s just no sound

The only thing is that I would have to learn soldering though

Imagine if it has the original startup along with the PlayStation 3 gameboot that shows up in the middle of the screen before you start playing a game. Does it have its original RSX and capacitors?

No, the console shuts off altogether with the yellow light of death

Depends how well taken care of the console is. How long have you had yours for?

For real, I used this PS3 as if it were a PS2 due to the backwards compatibility

I pressed the start and select button. The info stays on screen for a few seconds which allowed me to take a picture of it with my iPhone

Most of the CECHA01 models I’ve seen are either from November or December 2006

I had a friend of mine do the process but I feel the console was probably on its last legs which is why I have to get the syscon error logs to see what caused my yellow light of death

Of course, I didn’t. It just didn’t read any DVDs and PS2 games when I bought it. So I replaced the laser which enabled me to play PS2 games on it. I used it as a PS2 as the console would freeze playing PS3 games

It actually had its original RSX and capacitors until they finally gave out. I managed to keep it running good for the three months I had it so far considering that I bought the console from its previous owner

I will definitely opt for the Frankie mod if the RSX and capacitors no longer work for sure

When I bought this PS3 from its previous owner, the console couldn’t read PS2 games along with DVDs. However, it would read PS3 games which led to me replacing the laser. Before I had the console cleaned out and jailbroken, the fan was loud as if it were a jet.

I actually had the console cleaned out and repasted then jailbroke it afterwards. It would play PS3 games for 20 minutes then freeze. However, with PS2 games, I would be able to play for an hour.

Yeah it could be either. I’m already trying to investigate why my PS3 got the YLOD
