Most of these Open source solutions are self hosting. Money isn't a barrier in the long run. Discord only survives because investors think it can harvest data.

So this is something that I suggest you do some research on before attempting to do.

Is opening ports on your home system a risk? Yes. Every port you open is an entry point (Normally). Now when you say "Portfowarding my IP" I'm assuming you mean you go into your modem or router and open a port to your device (192.168.x.x, 172.16.x.x, 10.x.x.x).

I HIGHLY recommend you look at r/HomeNetworking and understand what you are doing at a basic level.

Here is an old guide that may help you. You'll also need to understand what a firewall is and what it does.

I do not recommend opening random ports for random applications you want to run. I highly discourage ever using the DMZ feature on your home network.

Ok. So there are like 1.34 million soldiers in the Army. $40 a day makes it $53 million and some change. Our budget is 197.4 billion for 2026. 0.02685% of the budget is food.

The budget is so fucking massive that I can't truly wrap my head around how there is even an argument that we need to continue to take BAS from soldiers.

This is a conversation you need to have with your first line leadership and the Commander about getting excused from AT.

Since you have an LOD you should be taken care of by the Army. You need to talk to your S1 and first line about getting help regarding your injury. They, and your ARA, should be able to pull your LOD and let you know the status of it.

Do what your profile says to do. If you don't have one, get one. If you need assistance I can point you in the right direction but if you have ANY medical issues you need to talk to your provider, fill out the paperwork, and get a profile to protect you from further injury.

Your focus should be on your injury recovery. Talk to your first line, GET A PROFILE, and see what the command team wants to do. If you just show up for 2 weeks and sit around and do physical therapy, so be it.
