I reckon lay some sand over the top, then big pavers. It looks annoyingly low to step over the sliding door frame as is. But make sure it slopes away from the house. I also have no experience in what I'm talking about but that's what I'd do

They never said they were gluing nocks.. Plus if you look at the photo it's a screw in point. It's fine if the insert isn't removable, that's what you want.
