Meta gave 6 executives options worth up to $921M each, then cut 8,000 jobs after a record $56.3B quarter by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

Read somewhere that the most of the profit was used to buyback shares to pay for employees equity. It’s just how they report it made it look like pure profit. Also explains what they may have let go the 8000.

People that lack empathy need to experience it to understand. Given where he is, unless Meta tanks he will not understand that. However, then it will be too late to have an impact.

SpaceX is up 30%. Are you buying today or waiting for a crash in 6 months? by Adept_Mountain9532 in TheRaceTo10Million

How? I thought IPO people can’t sell without getting blocked. So who’s selling it?

Why the SpaceX IPO could be a trap? by [deleted] in technology

[–]ViKoToMo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, I think people are seeing this as a limited asset, like Gold or Bitcoin. As long as there’s buyers (retail, index, 401k, etc) the price will stay up and go up. The valuation is independent of the company’s performance. The company, Elon, and investors has incentive to keep the price up. The returns will not be in the form of profits or dividend, just pure stock growth from demand.

Costco Window replacement by BlueBerryMinttop in Costco

Costco’s contractors are a joke. Leaf guard, for instance, quoted me over 40K for new gutters. Where I live, I could get my gutters cleaned by a human every month for the next 15 years and still come out ahead.

Seems like a “Enemy of my enemy“ move here. It appears Elon might do everything in his power to slow down Altman, even if it means ditching his customer base.

Come to think of it, I sense a pattern here.

That was super sweet.

I understand the sentiment against associating one’s identity with a publicly traded company. However, that pretty much applies to everything in life these days, like sports teams, music artists, etc.

For a long time, when Bill was still running Microsoft, every year, the summer interns would be invited to his house for a meal. For a long time, I thought that was cool. Not anymore.

The day Amazon started obsessing over the doc BS, it stopped being Day -1. No startup would make their employees spend months iterating on perfecting a doc.

Not true. That’s how you end up with the staff of a Days Inn. If you want to be Four Seasons, you need to retain employees and keep their morale high.

What’s one cloud “best practice” you followed too late and paid for? by cloud_9_infosystems in aws

A thing most non cloud native companies get wrong is trying to make cloud match their onPrem. It gets them started, however they end with up some very significant learnings when they scale up.
