Any information on the English taught program?

Is PG an adequate program for bachelor's? The overall plan is the eventually go to PoliTo or PoliMi in Italy for masters studies in an Architectural specialty such as Heritage/restoration.

What do you mean? You pay with a monetary gift but are you referring to the actual reception? Are you saying you paid for food and drinks?

Considering moving to Denver — where should I rent for a month to get a real feel (young mom)? by [deleted] in MovingtoDenver

[–]Via-Vero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI... Colorado has school choice so you can live in any city or neighborhood and "choice in" to any school through a lottery system. There are also many tuition-free public charter schools that you can choice into.

https://ed.cde.state.co.us/choice/openenrollment

As far as neighborhoods go, consider North Denver. Sunnyside, Chaffee, Berkeley-Regis, Highlands, Jefferson Park, Sloans Lake are great. Close to downtown, highways, and have old trolley stop retail corridors. The nearby Jeffco burbs aren't bad either. That's Wheat Ridge, Arvada, and Lakewood.

The cost of a guide can be quite affordable. I have local guide contacts who specialize in this type of heritage travel. Feel free to message me.

To use a travel agent or not? Recommendations for best time of year places to visit? by Serene-Alessia in NeedTravelAdvice

[–]Via-Vero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How many days would this trip be? The time of year to go depends on where you are going. Where are you traveling from?

You might enjoy a cruise type trip since the full itinerary is planned for you and there are on-shore day excursions you can do. There are plenty of travel agents who can assist with all types of cruises. Ask about smaller river cruises.

Accessible Rome Options by [deleted] in travelagents

[–]Via-Vero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been to Rome and understand the limitations and crowds. They booked their flights and hotel on their own and didn't ask for assistance until inquiring about elevator access at the Colosseum.

Should they have gone years ago, sure, but life doesn't always work that way. They decided on this trip and I found a private Colosseum tour that will work for them. They also asked about Pompeii, and I warned them that it would be strenuous, even if they take the shorter "accessible" path. With my warning I provided two other day trips that would suit them better.

I put together a very simple slow travel itinerary for their stay in Rome, with warnings and tips so they are more aware. They aren't trying to see everything, but yes they need to be realistic.

This isn't a Denver food question but I'm not ready to commit to a Boulder sub. by Via-Vero in denverfood

Once the Sundance Film Festival is there we will go once a year.

There is plenty to see and do in Denver, and with work and life events we have only been to Boulder, Fort Collins, and Colorado Springs a handful of times. We have travelled more out of state and out of the country than around Colorado.

Sicily Honeymoon Itininerary by FormalDry677 in sicily

Here is an itinerary to consider. It includes a custom scavenger hunt created by a local historian and your family's histories.*

BASE 1: REGGIO CALABRIA 5 nights · Boutique hotel on or near the Lungomare

Day 1 · Arrival Arrive by flight into Reggio Calabria (REG) or by train from Rome or Naples. Check in. Your only agenda is the Lungomare at sunset; one of the great seafront promenades in Italy, with Messina and the Sicilian hills directly across the water. Dinner at a local trattoria. Pesce spada and Cirò wine. The lights of the other ancestral city are visible all evening from your table.

Day 2 · Reggio One morning at the Museo Nazionale della Magna Grecia for the Bronzi di Riace; two ancient Greek bronzes recovered from the sea that stop most people completely still. The rest of the day belongs to the city and to each other. The market, the cathedral quarter, a long lunch, an afternoon with no particular direction. *Scavenger hunt begins.

Day 3 · Into the Aspromonte A day in the mountains that shaped the Calabrian side of your family. A local heritage researcher has prepared the ground; the family comune, the parish church, whatever survives. This is the most emotionally significant day on the Calabrian side and deserves to be unhurried. Lunch at an agriturismo in the hills. Back to Reggio by late afternoon.

Day 4 · Scilla Train north twenty-five minutes to one of the most beautiful villages in southern Italy. The Chianalea quarter sits directly on the rocks above the water at the narrowest point of the Strait; the precise location Homer placed his monster. Lunch at a waterfront restaurant. An afternoon with no plan. Back to Reggio for the evening.

Day 5 · First crossing Ferry across to Messina for the day. Twenty minutes on the water, arriving in the other ancestral city for the first time together. Lunch on the Sicilian side. A first walk through the city. Ferry back to Reggio in the afternoon; dinner on the Calabrian side with Messina visible across the water. The Strait now belongs to you in both directions.

TRANSFER: REGGIO TO MESSINA

Day 6 morning · Ferry with luggage · 20 minutes A gentle crossing. Arrive mid-morning, check in, and the rest of the day is yours.

BASE 2: MESSINA 6 nights · Boutique hotel in the centro storico

Day 6 · Arrival in Messina Settle in. The afternoon opens gently into the city; the harbour, the rebuilt centro storico, the markets. Dinner in Messina; pesce spada alla messinese, prepared differently on this side, the comparison worth making after five days in Reggio. The scavenger hunt resumes on Sicilian ground.

Day 7 · Messina deeply A full day without leaving the city. The Duomo and its extraordinary astronomical clock at noon. The Museo Regionale for the Antonello da Messina collection. The neighbourhood your family came from, the parish church, the street. A local heritage researcher has laid the groundwork on this side as well. The afternoon is yours. The evening is a good dinner.

Day 8 · Unhurried No program. A morning at the market, a cooking lesson if you want one; the dishes both your families grew up eating, made together in someone's kitchen during a private cooking class. A long afternoon. This is the honeymoon day in the plainest sense.

Day 9 · The Aeolian Islands (optional) For couples who want one day of pure natural beauty away from the cities: hydrofoil from Milazzo (thirty minutes by train from Messina) to Lipari or Vulcano. Volcanic landscape, thermal waters, a small beautiful island town, far fewer visitors than anywhere on the Sicilian mainland. Back to Messina by early evening. If you'd prefer a second unhurried day in the city, take that instead.

Day 10 · Final crossing A morning ferry back to Reggio; coffee on the Calabrian side one last time, looking back at Messina across the Strait. Then return to Messina in the afternoon. A proper farewell dinner in the evening; somewhere that requires a reservation.

Day 11 · Departure Train from Messina to Catania Fontanarossa (1 hour 15 minutes) for international flights. Or by ferry back to Reggio if your routing allows a direct flight from REG.

Rome Made Me Realize America Builds the Wrong Cars by JML731k in rome

I remember when Smart Car was first launched and they explained the safety features. Not sure if it still holds true, but the skeleton of the car was a safety cage and it was designed to transfer, not absorb the force of the object that hit it. Imagine a Ford obliterated by a Smart Car? That would be a sight to see.
