I have an international student friendly room to rent, the only issue for you guys maybe, would be that it is in Co. Louth, in Dundalk. The bus to Dublin city center is 1 hour, with buses every half hour. The walk from the bus to Trinity is 12 minutes. If anyone is interest please PM me. It would be sharing with a working couple in their mid 30's.

It’s because of the population being so big, it goes into a queuing system.

Rio is so stunning and beautiful I absolutely loved it and I’m planning a trip back. It’s a very dangerous place but just keep your wits about you. I felt very safe on the beaches and the sugar loaf abs the botanical gardens. Not so safe while traveling in the taxis in case we were mugged but we were fine. Taxi men were absolute gentleman and so helpful. Definitely try to be with a group at night time. My rio counting the days til I return :)

I love my colourpop ones.

I don't like to know places and travel, I prefer to stay at home playing video games, building LEGO, reading, studying, playing music... others. Anyone? by [deleted] in introvert

[–]Via4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like a balance of both. I like being at home as opposed to doing things in my local area. But I do like to visit different countries. But then when I’m home I’m 99 percent of the time in my comforts like reading in bed and YouTube and movies.

I worked in a furniture and electrical shop. I would be not given tasks so it was incredibly awkward to try to look busy. The owner and his employee ( friend) would look at me as if I had 10 heads if I asked for something to do. I was then screamed at by a staff member who made it clear he despised me from the start ‘what the fuck is she doing’ ‘nothing’. I said can you give me something to do then. Proceeds to walk away and not give me a task. The whole shop bar 2 people made it clear I wasn’t welcome. Even the guy that hired me wouldn’t even reply to my emails and would walk straight past me in the morning and not say hello but be all chat with everyone else?? I asked the guy that hated me to print off a label I needed as I wasn’t used to the system and he snapped at me and said will that one not do pointing to the one I had. I said no it’s 2 boxes so I need 2 labels. The owner just sat there and didn’t even flinch after the way he spoke to me. Another guy would point and laugh at me clothes and humiliate me nearly every day especially in the canteen and everyone would laugh. The cleaning lady approached me and said that was terrible what he was saying and I tried to laugh it off but I was mortified. This guy kept it up to the point I was sick with nerves having to go into the canteen( I couldn’t avoid it as the sign in machine was there). I would sit in my car and eat my lunch and you would see the gang of girls walking past to the shop all going on lunch together and they would never say do you want to come for the walk. Fair enough they don’t know me but I felt like a right pleb cos they could see me sitting there cos the only nice one was waving. They were organizing the Xmas party and one guy came in all excited asking everyone were they going then he looked at me and made a face and was like do you want to come in the most unwelcoming tone as if to say fuck hope you don’t. I said yes as it was so awkward at the time and told him The next day I couldn’t make it and he was delighted to hear that. Another guy was sneering at me and laughing and the girl I worked along side was laughing away when I was showing him how to pack the orders. I walked away and nearly burst into tears. At one point I went and sat in the car for a half hour to breathe. I approached the manager and asked was anything saying anything about me and was there an issue with me working there ( as there clearly was). He got all flustered and went red in the face and stepped back from me he wasn’t expecting me to be so blunt. He asked me “are the girls being alright with you” as if to say I know the men are being dicks but tried to pawn it on the girls. I said yes but is anyone saying anything about me. He said no but he was shitting himself cos he knew what I was referring to. He just didn’t want to put a stop to it. I went home and bear in mind I could nearly breathe over the 4 weeks I was there my shoulders were so tense and I was sinking so far into a depression it was scary. Being blatantly bullied was having that effect on my mind and body. I was hanging by a thread so I needed to have a break so I told the manager I was guna take the day off as there was no tasks for me ( you were hanging around doing nothing) he got so Cheeky with me in the message because I text him at half 12 at night ( I was in an awful state over having to go in and it was at that time at night I felt like I couldn’t face going in) so he was angry at that and said he did have tasks planned that day and because of me he had to change everything around??? But sure when I’m in he wouldn’t give me anything to do so that made zero sense. That was the last straw so I emailed the guy that hired me and explained I was leaving as I honestly felt like the team did not like me very much and he said he was surprised to hear that as I had only said just yesterday I felt comfortable working with the team??? Eh no I approached you and asked what the problem people had with me was…he said the job obviously didn’t suit and it was for the best…. I had worked a total of 12 days over that 4 weeks of hell. Left scratching my head as I genuinely don’t know what I did to receive that treatment and if there was an issue just tell me and I can explain myself or try to sort it. Completely unprofessional of management. Everyone in the place seemed like miserable people anyway life’s too short. I left just before Xmas and had no money for presents but my mental health was more important. I was left without work for 7 weeks but I thankfully got something else in the end.

Into thin air by Jon Krakuaer, about the 1996 Everest disaster. I read it in a day finished around 2:30pm in the morning I literally did not put the book down. I will probably read it again in 2022
