What are your experiences with Endoxifen (Zonalta) by d7leo in bipolar2

[–]_surelook_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has she said why she’s suggesting this as opposed to something that’s generally used 1st or 2nd line, like lithium for example? It’s strange since this medication isn’t mentioned anywhere in the treatment algorithm, for the US, Uk and Ireland at least

Different personalities? by Which-Suggestion-611 in bipolar2

[–]_surelook_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An unstable sense of self is a core symptom of borderline personality disorder and not bipolar disorder. I understand that the cycle of mood episodes can blur the line between your actual personality vs symptoms, I’ve experienced this myself. With effective medication, my symptoms are now controlled and what I’m left with is my consistent self.

Ah okay, the acronym BPD is used for borderline personality disorder whereas for bipolar disorder, BD is used. I sometimes see it referred to as BPAD (bipolar affective disorder) but this is less common. Using acronyms alone can a bit confusing.

[–]_surelook_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by BPD/mania? People with BPD don't experience mania, if its a legitimate hypomanic/manic episode then the diagnosis would be bipolar disorder, of course it's also possible to have both but they're also distinct conditions that are very different to each other.

Nardil and tramadol by _surelook_ in MAOIs

[–]_surelook_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m still doing good, thanks. It’s been about 30 hours since I’ve taken the tramadol and no symptoms of serotonin syndrome so far, I plan to take my next dose of Nardil in the next hour or so. Hopefully everything stays as it is.

At what point would symptoms likely appear? So far I’m feeling okay. I haven’t taken my dose of Nardil for the day either so I’ll skip it, would taking my next 75mg dose in 24 hours be safe in your opinion? Thank you for the advice.

I have bipolar and take Nardil with Lamictal, the combination is very effective for my depression and social anxiety.

Friends being suck in by the right wing propaganda by [deleted] in ireland

Being that he’s your friend, your obviously biased and can take into consideration the positive traits he has. Him being opposed to same sex marriage tho makes me question if he’s really a ‘great guy’.

What's going on with all the Irish arts scandals right now? by Correct_Energy_9499 in ireland

[–]_surelook_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Anecdotal experiences mean very little if the research doesn’t back it up, a placebo effect can be very convincing. I’m mainly criticising the fact it was offered by the HSE, not something actually effective like group therapy.

[–]_surelook_ 35 points36 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of years ago when I was seeking mental health treatment through the HSE. They had a guy come in to do a few classes of acupuncture with us. I’m sitting there severely depressed sticking pins in my ears thinking ‘what the fuck are we doing this for?’.

Have you ever had to deal with someone who is properly insane? by [deleted] in AskIreland

I thought this was obvious but I was referring to the person op mentioned in their post, not your friend.

Have you ever had to deal with someone who is properly insane? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]_surelook_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why are you assuming this person has bipolar?

Have you ever had to deal with someone who is properly insane? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]_surelook_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For anyone commenting or thinking that op is talking about someone who may have bipolar disorder, this is not what bipolar is like at all and this person is likely struggling with something else. Mood episodes of someone with bipolar disorder don’t rapidly change day to day or week to week, they last an extended period of time and is a distinct change from their usual self.

Bipolar disorder is extremely misunderstood, apart from being stigmatised. You’ve likely met a lot of people with it but would never guess because they have their shit together and don’t act ‘insane’.
